  • Publication number: 20250075494
Abstract: An attic baffle radiant barrier for use in unvented attics and vented attics. The attic baffle has a baffle substrate with an elongated H-shape, with a cross-span extending between two legs on the left and right, each leg comprising an upper portion and a lower portion. A tab or extension extends from the respective ends of one or both portions of one or both legs of the “H”. A radiant barrier layer is affixed or adhered to one side of the baffle substrate. The tabs or extensions may be used for stapling (i.e., using staples) or otherwise fastening the attic baffle radiant barrier to the bottoms, tops, or sides of rafter studs or trusses or similar frame members when installed.

  • Publication number: 20250041896
Abstract: A backpack and dispensing system for dispensing a caulking or liquid sealant. The pack or backpack houses multiple sealant tubes or cartridges in a pressing device. The pressing device simultaneously applies pressure automatically to each of the multiple sealant tubes or cartridges, which are held in cylindrical holders or holding tubes, causing sealant from each to converge in a converging funnel or connector, where it then passes through a hose or tube to be applied through an application gun, which may be permanently or removably connected to the hose. The converging funnel or connector may be designed to aid in elongating the liquid sealant for application. The gun, which is controlled by a trigger, may use a special sealant tip, which may be removably attached to the gun.

  • Publication number: 20240408640
Abstract: A dispensing tip or tool for use in dispensing a caulking or liquid sealant in conjunction with caulking guns or similar tools. The tip flattens in cross-section towards the dispensing end, with a rectilinear opening causing the liquid sealant to emerge at a specific thickness and width. A pair of guide tabs cause the sealant to emerge and be placed over a gap, seam or joint to be sealed. A fin extending from the bottom fits within the seam, gap or joint to help guide the tool during use. A notch in the bottom side of the opening allows for more sealant flow into the seam, gap or joint itself.

  • Publication number: 20240384527
Abstract: A framing gasket for use in construction. The gasket has a base with a plurality of rows of raised elements extending upward from one surface, each row with a stem-and-cap profile in cross section, with a stem extending upward from the first surface to a cap. The gasket is flexible and deformable, and provides a flexible air seal between framing elements in a building or structure wall. The profile allows for natural voids and deformation in framing elements while maintaining an air seal.

  • Publication number: 20240367419
Abstract: A multi-layer panel or board with multiple layers of oriented strands, such as a bottom layer, a core layer, and a top layer, with one or more integrated fiber reinforcement layers incorporated therein. The fiber reinforcement layer may comprise a plurality of fibers, fiberglass, “kitty hair”, or carbon fiber mat, mesh, or screen, and may be placed between a core strand layer and a top strand layer, and/or a core strand layer and a bottom strand layer. The form of the layer could be a solid layer (e.g., fiberglass), a mesh or screen, a woven-fiber mat, a hexagonal mesh (i.e., “chicken-wire”), or the like. The reinforcement layer may be pre-formed prior to placement in the mat, or may be formed during placement. More than one reinforcement layer may be present, and reinforcement layers may also be integrated within a strand layer.

  • Publication number: 20240328157
Abstract: A manufactured or engineered wood panel, including, but not limited to, oriented strand board (OSB), with a block grid cut or engraved on one side. The block grid comprises a plurality of parallel longitudinal and parallel lateral grooves at certain spacings (e.g., quarter-inch, half-inch or one-inch), intersecting to form a block grid. The depth of all grooves may be the same and constant, or the depth may vary between grooves, or within a groove. The grooves allow a builder or other user to cut the board in desired dimensions along corresponding grooves. The grooves may be deep enough (i.e., greater than half the thickness of the board) so that the board may be broken or snapped into the desired dimensions. In several embodiments, the board may be broken or snapped by human hand pressure alone.

  • Publication number: 20240308173
Abstract: A fire-resistant (FR) drainage mat, which may be used with a multi-component fire-resistant assembly for use in various forms of construction. One or both faces of the mat have a plurality of grooves or channels, configured to serve as moisture or water flow channels. The grooves may extend in one direction, generally parallel to an edge of the panel. Alternatively, the grooves may extend in two directions, may overlap and form a grid, or take other forms. The mat is made is made of solid, rigid or semi-rigid mineral wool, fiber rock, curtain rock, thermafiber, or the like. It also may have a backing, such as a paper backing, a board, or thermafiber backing.

  • Publication number: 20240083707
Abstract: A one-handed tool for use in application of seam tape or seaming tape. The device has a frame with an upper support with an ergonomic grip, with a finger guard or shield extending across the front of the grip to protect the user's fingers. A primary roller support and a secondary roller support extend downward from upper support. Each roller support comprises a pair of parallel arms extending downward at angles behind and in front of the upper support when in use, supporting a primary roller and a secondary roller, respectively. The primary roller is used to apply pressure to the seaming tape, while the secondary roller is used for stability and to apply additional pressure to the edges of the seaming tape. A retractable blade or knife may be located on one or more roller supports.

  • Publication number: 20240068232
Abstract: A self-sealing insulated panel, comprising an insulating foam board adhered or attached to a manufactured wood structural panel (e.g., oriented-strand board (OSB), plywood, or the like). The corresponding opposing edges of the insulating foam board comprise the two corresponding elements (male and female) of a modified ship-lap joint. The self-sealing insulated panel provides a component of an air-resistant and weather/water-resistant barrier in addition to insulation for a wall structure when installed when the foam board is placed facing outward towards the exterior face of the wall. The foam board provides insulation value as a foam insulation layer if placed facing inwards towards the interior of the wall.

  • Publication number: 20240068233
Abstract: A multi-layer panel product for use as structural sheathing. The panel product comprises a base manufactured-wood structural panel, such as OSB or plywood, with a factory-applied foam layer affixed to the exterior or outward-facing surface. The foam layer provides thermal resistance as an insulation layer. The foam layer also may act as an air and bulk water barrier. The foam layer may be expanded polystyrene (XPS) foam sheets.
