  • Patent number: 7306252
Abstract: A pull-type crop harvesting machine has disk cutter carried on a frame mounted on ground wheels with a hitch arm extending from the frame over the header to a hitch connector of a tractor. The hitch arm is mounted for pivotal movement about a generally upright axis such that in a first position the tractor tows the frame in echelon to one side and in a second position the tractor tows the frame in echelon. The disks are hydraulically driven by a pump at the front end of the hitch arm and a motor at the frame with the hydraulic circuit including a sump tank defined by a hollow interior of the hitch arm and a cooling radiator defined by a tubular frame member which is preferably located at the disk drive as a support therefore as it is cooled by the air flow from the disks and contact with the crop and carries a low volume of fluid.

  • Patent number: 7296632
Abstract: An alignment apparatus for use with the assembly of tubular segments with a tubular string in a well bore is disclosed. The alignment apparatus includes an actuator assembly functionally associated with an engagement assembly. Upon actuation of the actuator assembly, the engagement assembly engages the segment. The alignment apparatus is then lowered such that the segment contacts the string, and a connection may be made. A method of improving the alignment of the segment with the tubular string in the well bore is also is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070235653
Abstract: This invention relates to the manufacture of Cadmium Mercury Telluride (CMT) on patterned silicon, especially to growth of CMT on silicon substrates bearing integrated circuitry. The method of the invention involves growing CMT in selected growth windows on the silicon substrate by first growing one or more buffer layers by MBE and then growing the CMT by MOVPE. The growth windows may be defined by masking the area outside of the growth windows. Growth within the growth windows is crystalline whereas any growth outside the growth windows is polycrystalline and can be removed by etching. The invention offers a method of growing CMT structures directly on integrated circuits removing the need for hybridisation.

  • Publication number: 20070197022
Abstract: A method of manufacture of cadmium mercury telluride (CMT) is disclosed. The method involves growing one or more buffer layers on a substrate by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Subsequently at least one layer of cadmium mercury telluride, Hg1-xCdxTe where x is between 0 and 1 inclusive, is grown by metal organic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) The use of MBE to grow buffer layers allows a range of substrates to be used for CMT growth. The MBE buffer layers provide the correct orientation for later MOVPE growth of CMT and also prevent chemical contamination of the CMT and attack of the substrate during MOVPE. The method also allows for device processing of the CMT layers to be performed with further MOVPE growth of crystalline CMT layers and/or passivation layers. The invention also relates to new devices formed by the method.

  • Patent number: 6972401
Abstract: A passive touch system includes a touch surface and at least one source of backlight illumination projecting backlighting across the touch surface. At least two image sensors are associated with the touch surface and acquire images of the touch surface from different locations. A digital signal processor is associated with each image sensor. The digital signal processors select pixel subsets of images acquired by the image sensors and process pixel data acquired by the selected pixel subsets to generate pointer characteristic data when a pointer exists in the acquired images. A master digital signal processor in communication with the digital signal processors triangulates the pointer characteristic data to determine the location of the pointer relative to the touch surface.

  • Patent number: 6273327
Abstract: A stencil (34) facilitates application of solder material (48) to a circuit board (10) carrying a through-hole component (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) and to which a surface mount component is to be mounted. The stencil (34) has a first surface (38) and a second surface (40). The second surface (40) is engageable to a surface (28) of the circuit board (10) having a plurality of electrically conductive pads (30, 32). At least one first aperture (42) is formed between the first and second surfaces (38, 40)of the stencil (34). The stencil (34) has a first thickness (T1) adjacent the first aperture (42) for depositing a first amount of solder material (48) within the first aperture (42) and around a component lead (24) extending from the through-hole component (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) into the first aperture (42). • Patent number: 5689846
Abstract: A laundry machine which includes a method for adaptively controlling the flow of water into the laundry machine during the rinse phases of a wash cycle. Water is admitted into the machine through a proportional valve and the flow rate with the valve set at a predetermined degree of opening is calculated. This is compared with a desired flow rate and the degree of opening of the valve is incremented, decremented or left unaltered, depending on whether the calculated flow rate is less than, greater than or substantially the same as the desired flow rate.
