  • Publication number: 20070085348
Abstract: The invention is a cabinet lock for selectively locking a cabinet of a kind comprising a compartment structure (1) and a closure (2) movable relative to the compartment structure for selectively closing an opening of the compartment structure. The cabinet lock comprises of a latch bolt assembly (5) including a mounting (8) and a bolt (9) movably disposed with the mounting between a locking position and an unlocked position. Also provided is a striker (6) including a coupling region with which the bolt can couple to thereby isolate relative movement between the latch bolt and the striker in at least one direction lateral to the direction of movement of the bolt between its locking position and the unlocked position. The striker is engagable with the compartment structure and the latch bolt is engagable with the closure in a manner to place such in coupling proximity when the closure is in closing relation with the opening of the compartment structure.

  • Publication number: 20070069523
Abstract: A lock installation aid to allow as an assembled unit the installation of a lock assembly. The lock assembly is of a kind which includes a housing with which a latch bolt is movable in its axial direction between a locking condition and a retracted into the housing more condition (herein after “unlocked condition”). It also includes a striker having a region with which the bolt can selectively engage to become constrained in a direction transverse to the axial direction. The lock assembly is assembled as a unit by the lock installation aid which comprises an integrally formed body. It has means releasably engagable with the housing and means releasably engagable with the striker to hold the striker relative to the bolt in a manner fixed at least in a direction lateral to the axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20070051598
Abstract: A series of locks are described for preventing child access to cupboards and the like. The locks are preferably concealed and are opened by a proximity of a remote actuator, for example a magnet actuating a reed switch. An override or master switch may also be used to open all locks, for example, for a set period while emptying a dishwasher.

  • Publication number: 20050183480
Abstract: An electric lock includes a bolt capable of being disposed in an extended, locked position and a retracted, unlocked position. The electric lock also includes an electric actuator for displacing the bolt between the locked and unlocked positions and latching elements to selectively latch the bolt in both the locked or unlocked positions. The electric lock can then be maintained in a locked state and in an alternatively unlocked state without requiring a continuous source of electrical or mechanical energy to maintain the lock in either state.
