  • Publication number: 20040204199
Abstract: A hand held communication device (10) employs a first flip portion (14) that is pivotal with respect to a base portion (12), wherein the first flip portion (14) includes an antenna (20) and at least a power amplifier circuit (200) operatively coupled to an antenna (20). A second flip portion (16), also pivotal with respect to the base portion (12), includes at least one of a display (24) and a microphone (22). The first flip portion (14) preferably fits within a recessed area (46) of the second flip portion (16) and deploys automatically when the hand held device is opened.

  • Patent number: 6044159
Abstract: A planar film speaker(200) utilizes a first planar film diaphragm (102), and a second planar film diaphragm (104). A taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100) is positioned at an edge between the first planar film diaphragm (102) and the second planar film diaphragm (104). A first transmission medium (120) couples the taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100) to the first planar film diaphragm (102), and a second transmission medium (122) couples the taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100) to the second planar film diaphragm (104). An audio input signal is converted to tactile energy by the taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100), which is then converted by the first planar film diaphragm (102) and the second planer film diaphragm (104) into acoustic energy.

  • Patent number: 5969442
Abstract: A reaction propulsion motor (200) utilizes a taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100) having a motional mass (18) to generate an excitation force in response to an excitation signal. A conveyor element (204) translates the excitation force into locomotion. A transmission medium (202) is coupled between the taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100) and the conveyor element (204) to couple the excitation force generated to the conveyor element (204).
