  • Patent number: 10892614
Abstract: Safety device for an electrical apparatus powered by an AC mains power supply, the safety device comprising: an electric circuit having inputs for connecting to an active, neutral and earth conductors of the electrical apparatus which are in turn coupled to the AC mains power supply, the circuit being operable to: produce and apply a stepped down voltage and current to the earth conductor from the main supply; and electrically isolate the active and neutral conductors from the earth conductor in response to detecting that either: the active conductor is incorrectly wired to the neutral circuit of the AC mains power supply; the neutral conductor is incorrectly wired to the active circuit of the AC mains power supply; or the neutral conductor is switched; wherein one or more solid state relays are employed by the circuit for both producing the stepped down voltage and electrically isolating the conductors from earth.

  • Patent number: 8350756
Abstract: A method implemented by an assisted Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) server determines a position of a GNSS receiver. The method includes sending a request for measurement information to the GNSS receiver at a first time and receiving the measurement information from the GNSS receiver in response to the request at a second time, where the measurement information includes position measurement data and a corresponding measured time based on satellite signals received by the GNSS receiver. The measured time is determined to be erroneous when it is outside an accurate time range determined based on at least one of the first time and the second time. A substitute time is identified and the position of the GNSS receiver is determined based on the substitute time when the measured time is erroneous.

  • Patent number: 8217832
Abstract: A system and method for determining a location of a wireless device in a communications network. A request for satellite assistance data may be received from a requesting entity, and a reference location determined as a function of the request. One or more characterizing attributes may be identified as a function of the reference location, and a set of satellites determined as a function of the reference location. It may also be determined whether more than one set of signal measurements should be acquired from one or more satellites in the set of satellites as a function of the identified one or more characterizing attributes. The one or more sets of signal measurements may be acquired, and a location of the wireless device determined from the acquired measurements.

  • Patent number: 6738628
Abstract: Objects can be tracked within a building using a radio device associated with each object to be tracked and an array of transmitting beacons. Each of the beacons transmits identification data. The received identification data from the object to be tracked is sent to a server which determines the location of the object. The identification data may be sent from the object to the server using a data communications network such as a local area network. The beacons may have a variable power output allowing the receipt or non-receipt of the signal from the beacon to be used to assist in locating the object. The beacons may be associated with an existing wireless communication mechanism, such as Bluetooth.
