Patent number: 8887445Abstract: A vehicle comprises an outer shell having an opening and a cover for the opening. The cover comprises: a housing, a window and a motor for moving the window. The motor management unit stores three predetermined positions of the window relative to the housing. When the housing is engaged with the opening: in the first predetermined position the window is resiliently retained within the seal and the cover can be released from the opening without damage to the cover; in the second predetermined position the window does not engage with the seal; and in the third predetermined position the window extends into the seal and the window is prevented from being released from the seal without the window first being retracted to the first or second positions. The motor management unit causes the motor to extend the window to the third predetermined position when the vehicle exceeds a predetermined speed.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2011Date of Patent: November 18, 2014Assignee: McLaren Automotive LimitedInventor: Neil Patterson

Publication number: 20080059944Abstract: A method and product for deployment-aware code generation in a distributed embedded system is described. The method generally comprises defining source and target component structural models by graphically modeling components and component structural features. The source component structural model is then mapped to the target component structural model to define a staging between the source and target component structural models, preferably also graphically. The staging is then combined with configurations of the source and target component structural models to fully specify a deployment from which code can be automatically generated for the embedded system. As opposed to platform-aware code generation that depends on the component and the platform on which the component is deployed, deployment-aware code generation depends not only on the location of the component being generated, but also on the location of other components.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2007Publication date: March 6, 2008Applicant: ZELIGSOFT INC.Inventors: Neil PATTERSON, David McCORMACK, Tobin McCLEAN, John HOGG, Mark HERMELING, Eric GERVAIS, Francis BORDELEAU

Patent number: 6499064Abstract: A method of developing a software system using Object Oriented Technology. The present invention addresses the problem of providing a technical foundation for the development of software applications using Object Oriented Technology and frameworks. The present invention solves this problem with a framework supporting flexible interchange of domain algorithms. The present invention is applicable in the technical field of application development of software systems, e.g. for a business application as Financial or Logistic and Distribution, wherein it is the purpose of frameworks to provide significant portions of the application that are common across multiple implementations of the application in a general manner, easy to extend for specific implementation.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1998Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Brent Carlson, Neil Patterson

Patent number: 4091530Abstract: A field termination tool for electrical connectors includes laterally floating combs having edges which engage respective longitudinal slots on each side of an electrical connector to define a reference plane, the connector being urged toward the reference plane by a wave or blade spring carried on the connector support. The insertion tool is constructed to force insulated conductors into respective insulation piercing portions of connector contacts equally well for different connector widths by apparatus for positioning one of a pair of oppositely directed rotatable insertion arms with respect to the other and to the connector support and by providing a floating support structure to equalize forces across a connector. The comb slots each have a cutting edge which is cooperable in a scissor action with the cutting edges of the insertion blades carried on the insertion arms to cut the conductors immediately prior to insertion.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1976Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Bunker Ramo CorporationInventors: John Peter Nijman, Terence Neil Patterson
