The method also includes transmitting the public key to a middleware application executing on a middleware computing device, a server application executing on a server computing device, or both. The client application and the server application are engaged in a trusted relationship. The method also includes receiving, at the client application, a request to perform an operation on an encrypted content that is stored at the middleware computing device and that is encrypted with the public key by the middleware application or the server application, decrypting the encrypted content using the private key to generate a decrypted content, and presenting the decrypted content on a display screen of the client computing device.
