  • Publication number: 20240191621
Abstract: A method may include obtaining geological data for a geological region of interest. The geological data may include aluminum (Al) data. The method may further include determining weathering index data for the geological region of interest using the geological data. The weathering index data may describe alterations of detrital minerals to authigenic clay minerals. The method may further include determining various hydrocarbon zones in the geological region of interest using the weathering index data. The method may further include determining a well path in the geological region of interest based on the hydrocarbon zones. The method may further include transmitting a command to a drilling system or a stimulation control system.

  • Publication number: 20230221267
Abstract: A system and methods for petro-steering methodologies are provided. An exemplary method obtains rock fabric data, and integrate rock fabric data with dynamic productivity data to identify patterns between the rock fabric data and dynamic productivity data. Gas rates and steering values are predicted across UBCT wells based on the patterns.

  • Patent number: 11385214
Abstract: An elemental analysis of rock samples from outcrop sections or wells is performed. Data quality checks, data analysis, and filtering are performed on the rock samples, including de-spiking of elemental profiles and elemental ratios. First and second derivatives for the elemental profiles and the elemental ratios are calculated. Samples and depths that exceed thresholds are determined. The process is repeated for the elemental profiles and the elemental ratios that are related with boundary determination and carbonate or siliciclastic sediments. Additional filters are applied to at least a subset of the elemental profiles and elemental ratios that are related with boundary determination and carbonate or siliciclastic sediments to enhance the boundary identification. Possible boundaries in depths of the outcrop sections or wells are determined by summarizing the additionally filtered elemental profiles and the additionally filtered elemental ratios.
