  • Patent number: 9709175
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a flow control valve element, which may comprise a generally spherical shape. An inlet and outlet are formed in the element, with a fluid passage disposed between. The respective inlet and outlet are defined by a lip, and at least the outlet has a lip face comprising a width less than that of an adjacent element wall thickness. The element can comprise a pair of opposing flats formed in the wall, where the flats respectively comprise an external flat portion of the element wall and an opposing internal flat portion of the element wall.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 17, 2015
Date of Patent: July 18, 2017
    Assignee: Akron Brass Company

  • Patent number: 9038988
Abstract: A flow control valve element has a generally spherical ball. An inlet is formed in the ball. An outlet is also formed in the ball, the outlet opposing the inlet. A hollowed-out portion extends between the inlet and the outlet. A pair of opposing flats are formed in the ball, the flats each having a first flat portion formed in an external portion of the ball and an opposing second flat portion formed in the hollowed-out portion of the ball.

  • Publication number: 20140084075
Abstract: A fluid flow indicator system for fluid-dispensing nozzles including a fluid passage, a sensor in communication with the fluid passage, a control in electrical communication with the sensor, a power source in electrical communication with the sensor and the control, and at least one indicator in electrical communication with the control and actuable under at least one predetermined fluid condition. The sensor measures a fluid condition in the inlet of the fluid passage and generates a corresponding output signal. The control processes the output signal from the sensor, compares the output signal with predetermined fluid condition threshold ranges, each predetermined fluid condition threshold range representing a corresponding level of fluid condition, determines the corresponding level of fluid condition, and actuates the indicator corresponding to the predetermined fluid condition to allow a user of the fluid-dispensing nozzle to perceive an indication of the level of fluid condition.
