  • Patent number: 8412393
Abstract: A system and method for vehicle-centric infrastructure monitoring system includes an inspection system mountable on a vehicle configured to travel over an expanse of rail track having a plurality of track blocks. The inspection system acquires track data for at least some track blocks along the expanse of rail track. The monitoring system also includes a positioning system to determine a location of the vehicle and generate location data indicative of an associated track block location, a communications device to transmit the track/location data to a remote location, and a centralized computing system positioned at the remote location to receive the transmitted track/location data. The centralized computing system is programmed to determine a current probability of a track condition for a track block and combine the current track condition probability with a previously determined cumulative track condition probability to provide an updated track condition probability for the track block.

  • Patent number: 7349629
Abstract: An optical network provides a digital interconnect fabric allowing nodes to seamlessly communicate with each other. Each node is connected to a bi-directional optical bus through passive optical interface devices. The optical interface devices route signals from each node onto the bus in both directions and also route signals traveling along the bus in either direction to each node. The optical interface devices and optical bus are passive and do not involve any regeneration of the electrical signals. The nodes are assigned wavelengths of transmission and have tunable receivers for selecting a wavelength of reception. The digital interconnect fabric facilitates Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and other digital communication protocols.

  • Publication number: 20070138419
Abstract: A computed radiography (CR) system for imaging an object is provided. The system includes a radiation source, a storage phosphor screen, an illumination source and a two dimensional imager. The radiation source is configured to irradiate the storage phosphor screen, and the storage phosphor screen is configured to store the radiation energy. The illumination source is configured to illuminate at least a sub-area of the storage phosphor screen to stimulate emission of photons from the storage phosphor screen. The two dimensional (2D) imager is configured to capture a two dimensional image from the storage phosphor screen using the stimulated emission photons. A method of reading a storage phosphor screen is also provided. The method includes illuminating at least a sub-area of the storage phosphor screen using an illumination source to stimulate emission of photons from the storage phosphor screen.

  • Publication number: 20070080294
Abstract: A system for obtaining data from an imaging plate is provided. The system includes a light source configured to generate a light beam and a controller operably connected to the light source and configured to scan the light beam across an object in a first direction. The system further includes a mask comprising a positionable aperture configured to transmit the light beam to the object. A position of the aperture is synchronized with a position of the light beam.
