  • Publication number: 20090039694
Abstract: During the treatment of teeth by a dentist or dental specialist the patient's head rests on a headrest. The position of the head towards the caretaker, as well as the comfort of the patient, are very important for a successful treatment. Such comfort is often prevented due to hairstyling that is not accommodated by the design of the headrest. Certain embodiments of the invention a U-shaped headrest that allows for comfortable resting of a patient's head on the headrest. The U-shape may be subject to a variety of mechanical changes, for example, making an opening bigger or smaller, or changes in the angle of the headrest itself so that it better fits the counter of a patient's head. Such changes may be made through manual, pneumatic, or electrical control, or combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 6954730
Abstract: A method and system for assisting diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disease. The steps of the method include recording physical symptoms; conducting a plurality of medical examinations related to temporomandibular joint disease; creating a diagnostic criteria based on conditions known to be a factor in diagnosis of temporomandibular joint disease; and determining which of a plurality of patients match the diagnostic criteria.

  • Patent number: 6867134
Abstract: An electrode structure wherein galvanic corrosion at adhesion layers formed between electrodes and electronic or electro-optic substrates is eliminated. The electrode structure includes an electro-optic crystalline substrate, an amorphous layer disposed on the crystalline substrate, the amorphous layer having a composition substantially similar to a composition of the crystalline substrate, and a gold layer disposed directly on the amorphous layer. The amorphous layer is created using ion sputtering etching techniques that clean and activate the surface of the crystalline substrate such that the gold layer is able to adhere to it.
