Abstract: A vehicle equipped with a portable electronic device assembly is disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a portable electronic device assembly for a vehicle includes a portable electronic device and a portable device holder. The portable electronic device includes a rechargeable battery. The portable device holder is configured to retain the portable electronic device while the rechargeable battery is charged by the vehicle. The portable electronic device includes a device cavity configured to receive the portable electronic device, and a locking rod configured to extend into the device cavity and be rotated when moving between (i) a locked configuration that locks the portable electronic device into the device cavity while the rechargeable battery is charged by the vehicle, and (ii) an unlocked configuration that enables the portable electronic device to be removed from the device cavity and used remotely from outside the vehicle.
