  • Patent number: 8693975
Abstract: A cigarette lighter adapter (CLA) is provided with a main body configured to be connected at one end thereof to a vehicle cigarette lighter socket or auxiliary power socket. The main body of the cigarette lighter adapter is also connected to one end of a coaxial cable. The other end of the coaxial cable is preferably terminated with a standard low cost DC connector for connection to a portable media player (e.g., with integrated or separate satellite radio receiver) or other content source that provides a frequency modulated (FM) radio frequency signal with audio content onto the coaxial cable 60. The FM signal is amplified by an amplifier in the main body of the CLA and then injected into the vehicle power system through the contacts in the mechanical housing of the main body and the vehicle cigarette lighter socket.

  • Patent number: 8195094
Abstract: A modulator includes input paths for audio information from an electronic audio channel; output paths for transmitting said audio information over a frequency-modulated radio frequency signal to a FM broadcast receiver; and one or more programs for measuring or estimating the spectrum environment of the frequency-modulated RF signal bearing the audio information through sampling and analysis to select an optimum radio signal level and signal transmission mode for transmission to the FM receiver in a near interference free manner.

  • Patent number: 7436881
Abstract: An Apparatus for non-linear per-bin adaptive equalization in orthogonal multi-carrier data transmission systems with the Nyquist sub-channel spectral shaping and T/2 staggering of in-phase and quadrature components is disclosed. A previously introduced linear equalization embodiments are augmented by up to three, or more decision feed-back filters, to improve performance in presence of narrow-band interference (NBI) in wire-line and wire-less data transmission systems, and to enable exploitation of implicit diversity of multi-path fading channels, both with and without transmitter-end pre-coding. Adaptation properties of per-bin DFE equalization are analyzed by computer simulation for an intermediate number of constituent sub-channels.

  • Patent number: 6563841
Abstract: An apparatus for receiving a discrete multi-tone (DMT) signal representative of a series of input symbols and including a plurality of orthogonal sinusoidal subchannels of finite length for each input symbol, the apparatus including a plurality of delay circuits, each operable to receive the DMT signal and produce a delayed DMT signal; a plurality of windowing circuits, each operable to receive a respective one of the delayed DMT signals and produce a windowed DMT signal; at least one finite duration fast Fourier transform (FFT) circuit, operable to receive the windowed DMT signals and produce respective complex signals representing a plurality of bins corresponding to the subchannels of the DMT signal; a plurality of multiplier circuits, each operable to produce a product of (i) a complex factor for compensating for a respective phase shift introduced by a corresponding one of the delay circuits, and (ii) a respective one of the complex signals; an equalizer circuit operable to receive the products from the

  • Patent number: 5112057
Abstract: Apparatus for playing a game comprises clue means (C) for progressively revealing a clue as to a mystery entity to players in the course of the game. The clue means (C) is provided with a plurality of mask segments which, initially at least substantially conceal the clue but which, in the course of the game may be removed (or the like) so as progressivley to reveal the clue. A selection of information carrying articles are collected by the players in the course of the game, and are such that, for a given mystery article, there is an element of chance as to whether a particular information carrying entity will relate correctly to the mystery entity uncovered.
