  • Patent number: 4863667
Abstract: A method and the respective device for carrying out the method of applying a provisional protective covering to the exposed face that is not perfectly smooth (rough, furrowed, downy, fibrous, striated, or the like) of any products which have to be transported and/or stored and/or processed and/or installed by a subsequent assembly operation, particularly of profiled internal upholstery panels for vehicles, for example, for motor vehicles. A foil (2) of thermoplastic plastics material which is meant for forming the provisional protective covering, is laid out over the pandl product (1), is heated up to the thermoforming temperature, and is then sucked on the exposed face (101) of the product or panel (1) by a suction being peripherally applied to at least one point of the product or panel (1), and which spreads over the entire surface of the exposed face (101) thereof, thanks to the not perfectly smooth structure of said surface.

  • Patent number: 4669969
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for embossing hot molded plastic foil which comprises one or more banks of multiple embossing elements mounted on a rotatable wheel operated in cooperation with a hot-molding machine supporting multiple mold cavities. The embossing surface of each element has a curvilinear lateral profile and rotates around the wheel axis in a direction opposite to the rotation of the drum of the hot-molding machine in a manner synchronized to the rotation of the drum so that each embossing surface meshes with a corresponding mold, pressure embossing the hot plastic form molded therein. The peripheral speeds of the mating surfaces of embossing element and mold, as well as the embossing pressure, are controlled by interlocking the respective drive mechanisms, plus suitable elastic means, so that no slippage can occur in the mold cavity upon contact between the surfaces at high rotational speeds.

  • Patent number: 4333571
Abstract: A packaging unit for the packaging of fruit or like articles, comprises a rigid open-top box-like container made of plastics, and a plurality of substantially rectangular pocket trays disposed vertically in the said container, with one side resting on the bottom of said container. Each pocket tray is made of foamed plastic sheet and presents a plurality of staggered parallel rows of upwardly directed pockets, in which the top rim of each pocket has an approximately triangular shape in plan, with curvilinear convex sides, the vertexes of each triangular pocket being arranged at a higher level than the sides joining the said vertexes, whereby two adjacent pockets of one row and the intermediate pocket of the adjoining staggered row define, in correspondence of the common vertex, a triangular pyramidal projection. The side of the triangular pyramidal projection, which is part of the said intermediate pocket, is concave.

  • Patent number: 4286715
Abstract: A rectangular tray for packing and conveying spheroidal fruit, and more particularly for separating layers of fruit lying on top of one another in packing crates. The tray is provided with depressions for accommodating one item of fruit each. The depressions are arranged in rows which are parallel to one side of the tray, adjacent rows being staggered with respect to one another. In order to increase the resistance to bending of the tray with respect to two mutually perpendicular central axes extending parallel to the sides of the tray, in at least some of the rows of depressions at least two depressions in one row are connected together by stiffening channels disposed at an angle to the sides of the tray. The stiffening channels are recessed into one side of the tray and project from the other side of the tray.
