  • Patent number: 8356620
Abstract: A pressure-controlled three-way valve device for inflating, keeping inflated and deflating tires, the device having a plunger axially traversed by an inlet passage normally closed by a spring-urged inlet valve. The plunger's outer sidewall has a recess in which an O-ring extends to abut against the steps of the recess to limit the plunger stroke and keep an outlet circuit closed to a venting port formed in the sidewall of the body of the device. The plunger moving between a position to open air supply to the tire, a position to keep an outlet circuit to a tire closed and a position to open a venting port to deflate the tire. The plunger being mounted into the valve body by a diaphragm sealing an outer wall of the plunger against the valve body and permitting the moving of the plunger with minimal friction between the plunger and the valve body.

  • Patent number: 6672328
Abstract: A remote pressure-controlled three-way valve device has a plunger axially traversed by an inlet passage normally closed by a spring-urged inlet valve. The plunger's outer sidewall has a recess in which an O-ring extends to abut against the steps of the recess to limit the plunger stroke and keep an outlet passage closed to a venting port formed in the sidewall of the body of the device. O-ring prevents short-circuits between the inlet passage and the vent port and a spring for counteracting friction between the O-ring and the device inner wall. Filters arranged in respective ports connectable to the input air-pressure supply and the tire inner tube provide fixed seats for the springs to bear on. The plunger may dwell in a stable intermediate position that opens the outlet or deflation passage is controlled by sending an air pressure through the inlet port at 50% of the normal pressure.

  • Publication number: 20020124926
Abstract: A pneumatic rotary coupling (25) for an air pressure installation for one or more wheels of a vehicle. The coupling's tube (49) has one end formed in the shape of a nozzle which extends in the plane of the wheel, disposed as an axial extension of the wheel's axle end. The tube is located rotary and slidable inside block (35) that is fixed to the wheel's hub cover. A cover (37) fixed to the block presents a chamber (45) with an edge that defines a seat for a plastic bushing (47) that supports the coupling's tube. The external surface of this bushing is conformed by grooves (53) that communicate the chamber towards the orifices linking with the tires. The coupling includes a valve (75) that is pushed open by the tube in the event of outward wheel offset, thereby depressurizing the chamber. The tube further includes grooves (87) for bypassing a seal (57) in the event of inward wheel offset, thereby depressurizing the chamber through a vent opening (65).

  • Patent number: 5618361
Abstract: A pressure sensor for an apparatus for controlling and maintaining air pressure in vehicle tires. The vehicle compressor outlet is connected through individual pneumatic tire circuits to each vehicle tire, via rotary couplings in the associated axles. Each tire circuit includes tubing for carrying air and monitoring tire pressure, the circuits supporting pressure sensors and electrovalves housed in a control unit in the dashboard of the vehicle. The sensor includes a piston which causes a shutter to move in and out of the light path of a LED/phototransistor device. When the sensor signals low tire pressure via a an electronic circuit, the corresponding electrovalve is energized for the compressor to pump the tire up back to its set pressure. The sensor further includes means for varying the set point.

  • Patent number: 5591243
Abstract: A device for separating liquid particles from compressed air transported therthrough, to protect machine parts connected thereto. The device is simple to manufacture, easy to maintain and can be made of low-cost materials such as injection molded plastics. A cylindrical housing has an inlet and an outlet at opposite ends thereof for coupling into the installation. A plurality of cones are formed into a vertical pile and closely spaced from one another. Each cone has a concave deflector surface opening out towards the inlet and an orifice cut out at one point on the edge of the cone. The cones are mounted inside the housing and their edges fit closely against the inner wall surface of the housing so that the orifices of consecutive cones are offset 180.degree. apart.

  • Patent number: 5240039
Abstract: Mounting block for a shaft opened at an end and having in its interior a series of decreasing diameter chambers, defining in the first chamber a bearing with a plurality of balls retained between two races. An outer race forming the block cover and in turn housing an upper retainer and an inner race attached to the shaft providing the other mating surface for the bearing. Following the inner race, a washer is mounted fitting on its periphery against a cylindrical projection of the first race. Next, a second inner retainer is mounted in the second chamber. The axially drilled shaft has, mating with the third chamber, a cross hollow pin communicating with the chamber, which in turn communicates with the outside by means of two radial passages made in the body, these passages ending in outer nozzles. The axial conduit of the shaft exits, at an angle of 90.degree., through the end exiting from the block opening.
