  • Publication number: 20240399064
Abstract: Provided herein is a prefilled syringe including a syringe barrel having a proximal end and a distal end and defining a chamber, the syringe barrel having an opening at the proximal end. The prefilled syringe also includes a plunger assembly inserted through the opening and axially movable within the chamber of the syringe barrel, with the plunger assembly further including a plunger rod having an elongated body extending between a proximal end and a distal end and a stopper attached to the distal end of plunger rod and positioned within the barrel chamber. The stopper is composed of a blended material including an elastomeric material and an intermixed material having a coefficient of thermal expansion lower than the elastomeric material.

  • Publication number: 20240286332
Abstract: A method of forming a molded device, such as a stopper, requiring minimal post-molding processing includes providing a four-plate mold assembly (52) having top plate (54), a sprue/vent plate (56) including a core portion (62), a main plate (58) including a recess (66) defining a mold cavity (68) having a contoured surface (70), and a bottom plate (60), closing the mold assembly (52) such that the core portion (62) enters into the recess (66) in the main plate (58) to define a space (72) corresponding to the shape of the stopper (10, 110) to be molded. A polymeric material is introduced into the mold cavity (68) to form the stopper (10, 110). A barrier layer (14, 114) can be inserted between the main plate (58) and bottom plate and adhered to the molded device (10, 110). The plates are opened and the molded device is removed.

  • Publication number: 20240269388
Abstract: A method for storing an article within a pre-filled silicone-free barrel for use as a medical injection device, the barrel comprising a tubular member having inner and outer surfaces, the article comprising an elastomeric material having at least a partial coating of a fluoropolymer material on at least a front face thereof. wherein the article has between two and four perimetrical contact surfaces with respect to the inner surface of the barrel, the perimetrical contact surfaces separately disposed with respect to each other along a longitudinal length of the article and the barrel, wherein the method of storing the article within the pre-filled silicone-free barrel comprises storing the article within the pre-filled silicone-free barrel in cold storage at temperatures within the range of ?80° C. to ?40° C. and wherein the container closure integrity (CCI) of the article within the pre-filled silicone-free barrel is maintained upon thawing to ambient conditions.

  • Publication number: 20110186537
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods are provided to apply barrier and/or lubricant materials onto the interior surface of a container, such systems including a container having a chamber; a gas supply source for supplying monomer gas through a gas inlet duct having a portion extending into the chamber; a photolysis source and/or pyrolyzing surface for photolyzing and/or pyrolyzing at least a portion of the monomer gas to form a reactive gas comprising at least one reactive moiety; optionally a temperature controller for maintaining the interior surface of the container at a temperature which is less than the temperature of the pyrolyzing surface to facilitate deposition and polymerization of the reactive moiety on the interior surface of the container; and an outlet duct at the open end or a second end of the container for removing excess reactive gas from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 7048720
Abstract: A valve assembly is disclosed which partitions a conventional syringe into proximal and distal chambers to provide a multi-chamber, sequentially dispensing syringe apparatus. Incorporated in the valve assembly is a valved stopper having a valve (e.g. a slit valve) and a separator which filters out gas from liquid being dispensed through the valve assembly. A syringe plunger communicates through fluid in the proximal chamber to force displacement of the valve assembly. The valve is actuated by differential pressure of a force greater than the valve assembly displacement force. The valve assembly may be made from two parts: (1) a valved stopper (may be molded from basic syringe plunger material); (2) a separator (may be injection molded from syringe barrel material).
