  • Publication number: 20200146737
Abstract: A method for stabilizing a vertebral body is provided. The method includes creating one or more openings into a central region of the vertebral body and dispose at least one cannula in the one or more openings. The method includes forming an internal cavity within the vertebral body through at least one of the one or more openings. The method includes injecting bone particles into the internal cavity of the vertebral body through a bone particle catheter disposed within the at least one cannula. The method includes applying pressure to the bone particles within the internal cavity of the vertebral body, thereby compressing them against a sidewall of the internal cavity. The method includes removing the at least one cannula and closing the one or more openings, thereby sealing the bone particles within the internal cavity of the vertebral body. A system for stabilizing a vertebral body is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20200038083
Abstract: A medical implant comprises a slurry of bone particles that are injected into a vertebral body under pressure. The liquid component of the slurry may be aspirated while the slurry is being injected so that the bone particles of the slurry pack into the central area of the vertebral body to provide structural support. The injected slurry may be agitated during the procedure to maximize the structural strength of the implant after the procedure.

  • Patent number: 8821424
Abstract: In one embodiment, a spinal orthosis includes a left shoulder portion and a right shoulder portion connected to a retracting device through a retractable connector. The retractable connector is connected, at a first end, to the left shoulder portion and the right shoulder portion and is connected at a second end to the retracting device. The retractable connector is configured to pull the left shoulder portion and the right shoulder portion so as to move the shoulders of a patient in a rearward direction. The retractable connector is further configured to release the left shoulder portion and the right shoulder portion, thereby allowing the shoulders of the patient to return to a relaxed position.
