  • Patent number: 11255303
Abstract: A high frequency attenuating device for an air flow induction system of a vehicle employing a thermoformed fibrous mat of any shape that fits robustly inside the duct. The dissipative nature of the fibrous mat helps in achieving broadband attenuation in the high frequency regime. The ability to manufacture the fibrous mat into any shape helps with restriction, targets different attenuation bands, and makes it more feasible to manufacture. Hybrid solutions are possible when combined with low frequency perforated silencers or high frequency QWT arrays injection molded onto them.

  • Patent number: 7041146
Abstract: An air cleaner for a vehicular engine includes a pre-filter which receives air flow containing particulates and a primary filter which receives the air from the pre-filter. The pre-filter removes a first proportion of particulates from the air, and the primary filter removes a second proportion of particulates from the air. The pre-filter is separately serviceable from the primary filter.

  • Patent number: 6778864
Abstract: A system 10 for analyzing a component such as an air filter. System 10 may be created by and/or comprise software which resides within a conventional computer aided engineering (“CAE”) system. The system 10 utilizes a CAE model 12 to analyze the functionality or performance of an air filter based on certain attributes of the filter, such as the size, shape and media of the filter, and/or to determine certain attributes of the filter, such as the size of the filter, based on certain desired performance requirements of the filter.

  • Patent number: 6758885
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydrocarbon trap positioned in the air intake system of a vehicle, upstream from the engine and wholly in the airflow. The hydrocarbon trap comprises a holder and a material for adsorbing the hydrocarbons, inserted inside the holder. The holder comprises a screen that is added at the end facing the engine. The screen is held in place with the help of a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism comprises a locking ramp on the holder and corresponding locking tab on a clamping ring surrounding the holder.

  • Patent number: 6267006
Abstract: An air induction assembly 10 disposed in an intake passage through which air flows to an engine. The air induction assembly 10 has a conduit member 20 which defines an air flow path. A mass air flow sensor (MAFS) 30 is located in the intermediate conduit portion and is in fluid communication with the air flow path. The MAFS 30 being operative to generate an output signal corresponding to air flow rate within the intermediate conduit portion A plurality of flow conditioning elements (FCEs) 22 in the airflow path produce a uniform airflow with low turbulent fluctuations to the MAFS 30 under all vehicle and engine speeds without excessively restricting the air flowing to the engine.
