Patent number: 11930040Abstract: Malicious attacks by certain devices against a radio access network (RAN) can be detected and mitigated, while allowing communication of priority messages. A security management component (SMC) can determine whether a malicious attack against the RAN is occurring based on a defined baseline that indicates whether a malicious attack is occurring. The defined baseline is determined based on respective characteristics associated with respective devices that are determined based on analysis of information relating to the devices. In response to determining there is a malicious attack, SMC determines whether to block connections of devices to the RAN based on respective priority levels associated with respective messages being communicated by the devices.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2023Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Deon Ogle, Yaron Koral, Cagatay Buyukkoc, Nicholas Arconati, Jitendra Patel, Bogdan Ungureanu

Publication number: 20230362660Abstract: Facilitating interference avoidance at coexistence of cellular radio access technologies in same channel is provided herein. Operations of a system include evaluating respective traffic signals received from a group of equipment operating in a defined area. The evaluating comprises determining that the first group of equipment and the second group of equipment utilize an overlapping portion of a radio frequency spectrum. The operations can also include, based on a determination that an interference level of the overlapping portion of the radio frequency spectrum satisfies a defined interference level, reserving, by the system, the overlapping portion of the radio frequency spectrum for usage by the first group of equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2022Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: Tarun Chaki, Nicholas Arconati

Publication number: 20230137949Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards a short message service (SMS) congestion manager that can evaluate, predict, and mitigate SMS congestion. The SMS congestion manager can be implemented within a short message services function (SMSF) of a fifth generation (5G) or subsequent generation cellular network. The SMS congestion manager can monitor a volume of non-access stratum (NAS) SMS messages in order to detect potential overload conditions wherein the volume of messages exceeds a capability of a network function. In response to detecting potential overload conditions, the SMS congestion manager can inhibit messages directed to the network function in order to prevent overloads from developing. The SMS congestion manager can use machine learning to learn to detect the potential overload conditions as well as to learn actions to take to address the potential overload conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2021Publication date: May 4, 2023Inventors: Tarun Chaki, Thusitha Jayawardena, Jitendra Patel, Nicholas Thompson, Nicholas Arconati

Publication number: 20230024436Abstract: Concepts and technologies directed to scrubbed internet protocol domain for enhanced cloud security are disclosed herein. In various aspects, a system can include a processor and memory storing instructions that, upon execution, cause performance of operations. The operations can include exposing an application to a service provider network that provides an internet connection, where the application is provided by a datacenter that communicates with the service provider network. The operations can include monitoring traffic flows to the application during an observation time period, where the traffic flows include probe traffic that attempts to reach the application. The operations can include constructing a scrubbed internet protocol domain such that detected probe traffic is prevented from reaching a plurality of virtual machines provided by the datacenter.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2022Publication date: January 26, 2023Applicant: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Thusitha Jayawardena, Christopher Van Wart, Leonard Russo, Nicholas Arconati, Robert Chin

Publication number: 20220322058Abstract: A mobile edge computing (MEC) service area can comprise radio cells/antennas connected to baseband units that are connected to service gateway (SGW) and/or packet data network gateway (PGW) user planes at a customer premises. The radio cells can be tagged with evolved universal mobile telecommunications system terrestrial radio access (E-UTRAN) cell global identifiers (EGCIs) offering traceability to user equipment (UE) that camp on them. The radio cells for MEC can be assigned tracking area codes (TACs) such that when a UE is registered and provisioned for a MEC service area based on an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) assigned to a subscriber identity module (SIM) of the UE, the UE can be determined to be at a geofenced area.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2021Publication date: October 6, 2022Inventors: Emmanuel Etuke, Jitendra Patel, Nicholas Arconati, Ramesh Garapaty

Patent number: 11202254Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, selecting, a group of International Mobile Subscriber Identities (IMSIs), selecting a group of traffic simulator devices, and provisioning each of the group of IMSIs to each of the group of traffic simulator devices. Further embodiments can include providing first instructions to a first portion of the group of traffic simulator devices. The first instructions cause the first portion of the group of traffic simulator devices to generate simulated voice traffic over a first plurality of time periods. Additional embodiments can include providing second instructions to a second portion of the group of traffic simulator devices. The second instructions cause the second portion of the group of traffic simulator devices to generate simulated data traffic over a second plurality of time periods. Other embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: December 14, 2021Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Tarun Chaki, Thusitha Jayawardena, Nicholas Arconati
