  • Publication number: 20150056160
Abstract: An invention relating to therapeutic pharmacological agents and methods to chemically induce intracellular hyperthermia and/or free radicals for the diagnosis and treatment of infections, malignancy and other medical conditions. The invention relates to a process and composition for the diagnosis or killing of cancer cells and inactivation of susceptible bacterial, parasitic, fungal, and viral pathogens by chemically generating heat, and/or free radicals and/or hyperthermia—inducible immunogenic determinants by using mitochondrial uncoupling agents, especially 2,4 dinitrophenol and, their conjugates, either alone or in combination with other drugs, hormones, cytokines and radiation.

  • Patent number: 6149626
Abstract: A autoinjector type syringe apparatus is provided for injecting a liquid medicine or like into a patient. The apparatus includes a housing that is of two parts including a transversely extending upper housing and a downwardly extending vertically oriented lower housing. A syringe barrel is supported by the housing and has an interior for holding a liquid medicament for being dispensed. A piston is slidably disposed within the interior of the syringe barrel for injecting the medicament from the barrel, the piston being movable between retracting and dispensing positions. A cam member supported by the housing for operating the piston to move between retractive and dispensing positions, the cam being movable between loaded and dispensing positions. The housing includes an upper transversely extending section with an external surface and a cocking mechanism that includes an externally positioned handle that slides on the outer surface of the upper portion of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5971953
Abstract: A dual chamber syringe for dispensing a dry medicine that is to be reconstituted just prior to administration to a patient includes a syringe housing having an outer wall and proximal and distal end portions. A syringe bore extends between the proximal and distal end portions. The bore is divided during use into upper and lower chambers for containing medicinal contents that are to be first mixed and then dispensed. In the preferred embodiment, the chambers contain an upper liquid component and a lower dry component. A first lower piston occupies a position generally in between the upper and lower chambers. The first lower piston engages a plurality of ribs at an enlarged diameter bypass portal section of the syringe housing with multiple longitudinally extending channels after the user applies pressure to a second upper piston in the bore and above the upper chamber. Continued downward movement of the two pistons causes the two components to mix to be dispensed from the distal end of the syringe.

  • Patent number: 5865804
Abstract: A syringe apparatus includes a housing having upper and lower end portions and a hollow interior. A rotary cam position inside the hollow interior has a projecting portion for operating a cartridge when the apparatus is used. The housing has a rotary bearing for supporting the cam. A syringe cartridge (single chamber or dual chamber) removably fits the housing interior, the cartridge including a barrel with at least one chamber for containing medicine to be dispensed and a dispensing orifice. The cartridge includes a piston having an upper plunger that engages the cam. The piston slides within the barrel chamber forcing contained medicine through the dispensing orifice (e.g., needle) during use. The upper plunger end of the piston engages the rotary cam during dispensing. The cam is movable between first and second positions, the second position being a dispensing position that positions the projecting portion of the cam at the piston. A spring urges the cam to rotate from the first to the second position.

  • Patent number: 5267963
Abstract: This invention relates to an automatic injection device which, upon activation by the user, automatically extends a syringe with needle, delivers medication through the needle, and retracts the needle, thus keeping the needle hidden from view.

  • Patent number: 4673691
Abstract: A human weight reduction method in which 2,4-dinitrophenol and a thyroid hormone preparation are administered to the patient. The dinitrophenol is administered in dosages sufficient to elevate the patient's body temperature, typically 250 mg every other day. The thyroid hormone preparation preferably contains 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine and is administered in dosages sufficient to substantially maintain the patient's serum T3 concentration originally present at treatment onset.

  • Patent number: 4555397
Abstract: Subcutaneously injecting a patient with a solution of atropine and scopolamine, potentiated by chlorpromazine alleviates withdrawal symptoms attributed to the cessation of chronic nicotine blockage. Auricular injections give immediate effects and minimize peripheral anti-cholinergic activity. The treatment is administered during an initial office visit.
