    Abstract: A system and method for creating a replica component having a functional capacity blocker includes a system having a 3D scanner for scanning a first component, and a computer for controlling the operation of the scanner and for receiving data sets produced by the scanner. The computer including functionality for modifying the data set to include a functional capacity blocker. A database stores the modified 3D data set, and a 3D printer produces a replica component having the functional capacity blocker. When used to create replica aircraft components for use in a classroom environment, the functional capacity blocker prevents the replica component from being installed onto an aircraft.
