Patent number: 12276276Abstract: A fluid end made of a plurality of fluid end sections positioned in a side-by-side relationship. Each fluid end section is made of a housing having a discharge bore and an intake bore formed therein. A fluid routing plug is installed within each housing and is configured to route fluid throughout the housing and between the discharge and intake bores. The fluid routing plug carries seals that engage sealing surfaces formed within the housing. A number of features, including the location of seals within bore walls and carbide inserts within valve guides, aid in reducing or transferring wear within each housing.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2024Date of Patent: April 15, 2025Assignee: Kerr Machine Co.Inventors: Micheal Cole Thomas, Christopher Todd Barnett, Kelcy Jake Foster, Nicholas Son, John Keith, Mark S. Publication number: 20250109745Abstract: A system for cooling plungers which operate in high pressure pumps. The system uses a plunger having a blind bore formed therein. The blind bore may receive a number of different objects, some of which are fixed to the plunger. A heat exchanger may be installed within the blind bore. The heat exchanger may have internal passages or openings which allow for the circulation of fluid within the blind bore, thus cooling the plunger. The heat exchanger may be formed of a material having a higher thermal conductivity than the material used to form the plunger. This allows the heat exchanger to cool the plunger more effectively than if the plunger were solid or filled with an empty air space. The heat exchanger may be sealed within the bore of the plunger, or exposed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2024Publication date: April 3, 2025Inventors: Micheal Cole Thomas, Christopher Todd Barnett, Kelcy Jake Foster, Nicholas Son, John Keith, Guy J. Lapointe, Brandon Scott Ayres

Publication number: 20250020192Abstract: A pair of wear grooves for a linear drive assembly. One wear groove is disposed on a wear plate attached to a crosshead. This wear groove is on a front edge of the wear plate, and does not intersect any lubrication groove. Another wear groove is disposed circumferentially about an inner wall of a crosshead guide. Each of the wear grooves is observable to an operator without fully disassembling the crosshead and the crosshead guide, and each is observable from a single side of the crosshead guide. Should the wear groove not be observable, the associated component should be replaced. Should the wear groove be observable, the remaining life of the component can be determined from the groove's depth.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2024Publication date: January 16, 2025Inventors: Kelcy Jake Foster, Micheal Cole Thomas, Christopher Todd Barnett, Nicholas Son, John Keith

Patent number: 11946362Abstract: The disclosure provides a packing monitor, method, and gravel pack system for real-time monitoring of a particulate for improved gravel packing. Via the real-time monitoring, the quality of the gravel pack can be detected in real-time. Accordingly, a top-off procedure can be performed without additional tripping of the inner service tool string. Detecting when the gravel pack is approaching screen-out can also be determined in real-time. Detecting when screen-out is approaching allows the operator to prepare to stop pumping in case of miscalculations or early screen-out. In one example, the packing monitor includes: (1) a packing detector configured to, when stationary within the wellbore, obtain measurements indicating presence of a particulate in an annulus of the wellbore at different positions along a length of a screen; and (2) a packing controller configured to determine, based on the measurements, a status of the particulate in the annulus at the different positions.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2021Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Nicholas Cole Ashford, Donald G. Kyle, Michael Linley Fripp, Kevin D. Fink

Publication number: 20230228649Abstract: There is provided herein a solution for measuring the optical power loss of duplex optical-fiber devices under test, and particularly those terminated with a duplex connector interface, which allows for a one-cord or one-cord equivalent testing method whichever the format of the duplex connector interface of the optical-fiber device under test, and this without disconnecting the optical fibers of the device under test from their duplex native connector interface. There is provided an optical-fiber expansion device to be used to interconnect and adapt a power meter instrument to a variety of duplex connectors. The proposed optical-fiber expansion device comprises a pair of optical fibers having a core diameter and a numerical aperture that are greater than those of the optical fiber in the DUT connector interface, so as to make it compatible with the one-cord testing method.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2023Publication date: July 20, 2023Inventors: Michel LECLERC, Nicholas COLE
