  • Patent number: 9376098
Abstract: A brake cam assembly comprises a cam tube and a cam rod, each having an inboard end and an outboard end, relative to the wheel to be braked. The cam rod carries a cam at its outboard end to actuate the brake. At least one inboard bearing ring is secured inside the cam tube adjacent the inboard end and at least one outboard bearing ring is secured inside the cam tube adjacent the outboard end. The cam rod is rotatably supported by the bearing rings to be rotatable within the cam tube, with the outer surface of the cam rod being spaced from the interior surface of the cam tube. An inboard sealing ring is disposed at the inboard end of the cam tube, an outboard sealing ring is disposed at the outboard end of the cam tube, and a quantity of lubricant is disposed within the cam tube.

  • Patent number: 8678407
Abstract: The present invention provides a trailing beam for supporting a trailer axle. The trailing beam has a generally rectangular cross section, the top, bottom and sides of which are fabricated from steel plate or channels, with the individual components being welded together at their junctures. The trailing beam incorporates a novel axle wrap which provides a curved sided window enabling weld securement of the axle wrap to the axle without the weld extending parallel to a longitudinal axis of the axle.

  • Patent number: 8622406
Abstract: The present invention provides an eccentric pivot member for effecting fore and aft movement of a leading end of a trailing beam member of a trailing beam suspension in response to rotation of the pivot member. Ratchet collars are provided which act between the eccentric pivot member and a suspension hanger to mechanically secure the assembly against rotation and any associated inadvertent misalignment.

  • Patent number: 8070177
Abstract: An improved steer axle assembly for a trailer is provided in which a tapered roller thrust bearing extends between each lower kingpin yoke thrust face and each lower kingpin sleeve thrust face to transfer load between the lower yoke sleeve and the kingpin sleeve while allowing the yokes to swivel about the kingpins. Upper and lower needle bearing assemblies extend respectively between the upper and lower yoke sleeves and the kingpins to guide the swivelable movement of the yokes about the kingpins. Upper and lower kingpin caps are secured across the upper and lower yoke sleeves respectively above and below the kingpins to seal the opposite ends of the kingpins within the yoke sleeves.

  • Patent number: 6672604
Abstract: A truck axle assembly has a pair of transversely spaced longitudinally extending swing arms each attachable adjacent one end to a truck chassis for pivotal movement relative thereto about a transverse axis. Each swing arm has an axle mounting bracket detachably secured thereto adjacent an opposite end thereof, and each axle mounting bracket has a transverse portion extending across the swing arm and a pair of transversely spaced attachment portions extending from the transverse portion on opposite sides of the swing arm and detachable secured thereto. An axle extends transversely across the swing arms adjacent the opposite ends thereof and detachably secured to the mounting brackets. Each axle mounting bracket also supports a brake actuating member for a brake mechanism mounted on an adjacent end of the axle.
