  • Patent number: 7938420
Abstract: A drive mechanism for a bicycle is provided including a pedal leverage arm, a drive sprocket spindle, a drive sprocket, a drive gear, and a vertical gear on each side of the bicycle. The vertical gear is attached to the pedal leverage arm so that the vertical gear can mesh with the drive sprocket. A chain on each side of the bicycle extends around the drive gear and a wheel sprocket. Downward movement of a pedal leverage arm causes the attached vertical gear to move downward, causing the meshed drive gear to turn, which causes the drive sprocket spindle on that side of the bicycle to turn, which causes the chain that goes around the drive sprocket on that side of the bicycle to turn, which causes the wheel sprocket and a rear wheel to turn, due to permanent attachment of both the drive sprocket and drive gear to the drive sprocket spindle.

  • Patent number: 7621253
Abstract: A novel combustion engine with turbine like properties is disclosed. The novel engine (10) comprises an air intake, a first compressor stage, coupled to the air intake, a second compressor stage, coupled to the first compressor stage, a transfer valve, placed between the compressor stages and an annular race. Within the annular race, toroidal piston travels and passes over the transfer valve. The valve, toroidal piston and race form a temporary combustion chamber that expands as the piston travels within the annular race. Compressed air and fuel are introduced into the temporary combustion chamber and ignited to release the chemical energy and force the turbine piston to travel faster within the annular race. The first compressor stage is rotatably coupled to a crank shaft, which drives the first compressor stage and connects to an armature, which also connects the turbine piston so that useful work can be extracted from the energy released from the combustion of the fuel-air mixture.

  • Patent number: 5400597
Abstract: A novel turbocharger is disclosed that includes a compressor wheel and two turbine wheels all mounted on a common drive shaft. Also included is an auxiliary airflow generator to turn one or both turbine wheels. In normal operation, engine exhaust is used to drive the compressor wheel. The improved turbocharger uses two turbine wheels to drive one compressor wheel on one common drive shaft, which invention is intended to eliminate the turbo lag problem inherent in a single turbine turbocharger. In one embodiment, the auxiliary airflow generator spins the turbine wheel at low engine speeds to overcome the problem of turbo lag. In one embodiment, the airflow generator is a blower fan, which directs air through the turbine. In another embodiment, the airflow generator is a vacuum generator, which impels air through the turbine wheel. The two embodiments may be combined such that the blower and the vacuum generator compliment each other in operation.
