Abstract: The present invention relates to surgical glove designs and materials utilized to resist penetration by sharp needles and instruments as well as being impervious to body fluid and infectious disease causative organisms. An additional feature of the materials utilized is that the tear strength of the glove is substantially increased. The glove is formed of segments which increase in thickness in a direction extending from the distal phalangeal segments to the forearm, and the glove is provided with flex points at the joints. This invention provides a highly protective surgical glove which has universal applications to other medical, industrial, and service occupations.
