  • Patent number: 11910268
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a first computing device from a user of the first computing device, a request to locate a tracking device associated with the first computing device. The method includes sending, by the first computing device to a tracking system server in response to receiving the request to locate the tracking device from the user of the first computing device, a request for a location of the tracking device. The method includes receiving, by the first computing device from the tracking system server, a location of the tracking device, the location of the tracking device being a location associated with the tracking device determined by a second computing device of the plurality of computing devices and provided by the second computing device in response to the second computing device receiving a signal from the tracking device.

  • Patent number: 11202168
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a first computing device from a tracking system server, a request to locate a tracking device, the request comprising an identifier for the tracking device. The method includes receiving a signal from a tracking device in an environment of the first computing device, the signal including an identifier for the tracking device in the environment of the first computing device. The method includes determining that the tracking device in the environment of the first computing device is the tracking device of the request to locate the tracking device by comparing the identifier for the tracking device received from the tracking system server and the identifier for the tracking device in the environment of the first computing device. The method includes providing, to the tracking system server, the location associated with the tracking device and the identifier for the tracking device.

  • Patent number: 10187750
Abstract: A tracking server receives, from a first mobile device in response to a tracking signal, a first location associated with a tracking device and a first measurement of accuracy of the first location. The tracking server receives, from a second mobile device in response to a tracking signal, a second location associated with the tracking device and a second measurement of accuracy of the second location transmitted from a second mobile device. In response to determining that two locations associated with the tracking device have been received, the tracking server determines whether the first measurement of accuracy and the second measurement of accuracy are within a threshold measurement of accuracy. In response to determining that the first and second measurements of accuracy are within the threshold, the first location and the second location are transmitted to the second mobile device for presentation by the second mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20180234799
Abstract: A tracking device can securely communicate with a secondary device by generating a hash value based on the identity of the tracking device. If the secondary device cannot resolve the hash value, the hash value can be provided to a tracking server, such as a cloud server, for resolving the hash value. Upon resolving the hash value, the tracking server can store a location of the tracking device in association with the identity of the tracking device. To preserve power, the secondary device can activate location-detection functionality (such as a GPS receive) only in response to the detection of movement of the tracking device, can obtain location information, and can de-activate the location-detection functionality upon providing the location information to the tracking server. The tracking server can associate one or both of a previous location and the current location information based on movement of the tracking device.

  • Patent number: 9973893
Abstract: Movement information describing a movement of a tracking device is received at a mobile device. The mobile device determines a location associated with the tracking device, and provides the determined location, an identity of the tracking device, and the received movement information to a tracking server. The tracking server is configured to select one or both of the determined location or a previous location of the tracking device stored by the tracking server based on the movement information. The tracking server then provides, in response to a request for location information, the selected one or both of the determined location or a previous location to a requesting entity.
