  • Patent number: 6120051
Abstract: Two vehicles are transported in tandem by a beam assembly connecting a lead vehicle to a trailing vehicle which is reversed end-for-end. The beam assembly includes an elongated beam which is connected to the rear and extends lengthwise of the trailing vehicle. The beam extends beyond the rear end of the trailing vehicle and is elevated and connected to the rear end of the lead vehicle at a height such that the rear wheels of the trailing vehicle are raised above ground. The connection of the beam to the lead vehicle permits the beam to swing both laterally and vertically.

  • Patent number: 5465813
Abstract: A device for applying the brake of a towed vehicle when towed by a towing vehicle equipped with an air brake system having a power brake operator operative to supply operating air under pressure to apply a brake on the towing vehicle and also having a reservoir of operating air under pressure. The device is connected to the brake pedal of the towed vehicle. It comprises a first piston-cylinder assembly with a spring for urging the piston therein to an advanced position, and a second piston-cylinder assembly having a spring urging the piston therein to a retracted position. The brake on the towed vehicle is applied only when one of the pistons is advanced. An air line supplies air from the reservoir to the first piston-cylinder assembly to urge the piston to a retracted position against the action of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4949985
Abstract: A low ride saddle mount for use in the transportation of trucks comprising a pair of laterally spaced supports adapted to be mounted on a tow truck, and a shaft extending horizontally between and supported for axial rotation above the supports. A platform is secured to the shaft. A saddle is mounted on the platform for rotation about an axis extending at right angles to the longitudianl axis of the shaft. Clamps on the saddle are adapted to clamp onto the front axle of a truck to be towed. The saddle mount may be inverted so that the shaft is below the supports, to permit a lower ride.
