  • Patent number: 7184363
Abstract: An apparatus designed to float on or in a liquid has at least two buoyant members. The apparatus utilizes relative motion between the buoyant members to generate power, and the buoyant members are coupled to the apparatus in such a manner that surface movement of a fluid that the apparatus is floating in causes relative motion between the buoyant members. The apparatus may be a housing that includes an electrical apparatus within it, with the electrical apparatus being powered directly or indirectly by power generated by the floating apparatus. The apparatus may be a sonobuoy, and may include a sensor array hanging from a floating housing that includes the at least two buoyant members.

  • Patent number: 5398046
Abstract: A faceplate assembly has an electrically conductive grid, which is electrically connected to a suitable ground potential, positioned on or above a display screen of an interactive display terminal (IDT) where the grid has a plurality of optical pipes with metal walls, which provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, and with optical cores, which enhance visibility, that optically pipe information originally displayed on the IDT screen which is piped to a viewing plane developed by the grid. A continuous, serpentine electrical conductor is carried by and positioned over the optical pipe walls by a flexible, transparent overlay sheet that can be flexed to bring a selected portion of the electrical conductor into an electrical switch closed position with an adjacent optical pipe wall(s). This selected grid position is electrically measurable and thereby determined.

  • Patent number: 5386313
Abstract: A reflective magneto-optic spatial light modulator (MOSLM.TM.) assembly has a nonmagnetic protective housing that receives, positions, and protects a spatial light modulator (SLM) chip that is formed from relatively fragile magneto-optic material from deformations caused by mechanical stress and by excessive temperature changes. The assembly further has a channelled ingress and egress of incident electromagnetic radiation, such as visible and coherent light, to and from the SLM chip.

  • Patent number: 4143670
Abstract: A length of fiberglass duct with a thermoplastic sleeve positioned within the duct as a liner, with the sleeve fixed to the duct at the downstream end of the sleeve. Flames or high temperature fluids moving through the duct soften the thermoplastic sleeve and cause the sleeve to collapse blocking further movement through the duct.
