  • Publication number: 20190190775
Abstract: A method, computer program product, user equipment (UE) and packet data network gateway (P-GW) are provided for activating “Data Off” services using protocol configuration options (PCO). The UE sends a first indication to a first network node as part of the PCO. The first indication includes a Data Off indication indicating whether a “Data Off” service is activated. The first network node may be a P-GW. If the Data Off indication indicates that the “Data Off” service is deactivated, the UE receives downlink data from the first network node. If the Data Off indication indicates that the “Data Off” service is activated, the UE either receives no downlink data from the first network node or receives an error message from the first network node.

  • Patent number: 10321391
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for configuring network connections using memory are described. An example method for use in mobile equipment includes: reading a mobile subscriber identity from a memory device associated with the mobile equipment; determining if part or all of the mobile subscriber identity matches a data set entry within a file associated with the mobile equipment; determining if an elementary file is on the memory device; when the elementary file is on the memory device, determining if an access point name is stored in a location identified in the elementary file; and when the access point name is stored in the location identified in the elementary file, using the access point name to connect the mobile equipment to a mobile network. Other examples are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190174282
Abstract: A method for transferring data using optimized short message transport includes receiving at a first network node an attach request message. The attach request message includes short-message data. The first network node receives from a second network node a short-message data response message. The short-message data response message includes at least one of an address for a short message service center, an indication that indicates no mobile-terminated message is pending for the UE, or a short-message entity destination address.

  • Patent number: 10277635
Abstract: A method for operating a UE is provided. The method comprises retrieving, by the UE, an IMS transport policy comprising a set of service transport rules. The set of service transport rules may include an indication of at least one IMS service and an indication of a policy for at least one access technology associated with the at least one IMS service. The indication of the policy may indicate whether the access technology can or cannot be used to transmit data between a network element and the UE when a first IP flow for a first IMS service associated with the UE has at least one IP flow characteristic in common with a second IP flow for a second IMS service associated with the UE, or whether the access technology is preferred over another access technology for transmitting data between the network element and the UE in such circumstances.

  • Publication number: 20180227745
Abstract: In some examples, a user equipment (UE) stores a first network configuration that maps to a first set of corresponding packet-switched settings comprising a first access point name (APN), stores a second network configuration that maps to a second set of corresponding packet-switched settings comprising a second APN, and determines whether the UE is in a first network or a second network. In response to the UE being in the first network, the UE sends a first message to the first network to activate a data connection in which a message includes the first APN. In response to the UE being in the second network, the UE sends a second message to the second network to activate a data connection in which a message includes the second APN.

  • Patent number: 9942746
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) is capable of communicating in multiple networks including a first network and a second network. The UE sends a message to the second network to activate a data connection in the second network or to register the UE in the second network. The UE includes in the message a value of a packet-switched information element that the UE has determined is to be used as opposed to a different value of the packet-switched information element that was included in a message sent by the UE to the first network to activate a data connection in the first network or to register the UE in the first network.
