  • Publication number: 20260240611
Abstract: Smart surgical instruments, systems, and methods for correcting a spinal deformity. The smart instruments are configured to sense and measure data, for example, related to screw insertion torque, segmental and global spine stiffness, correction force, rod reduction force, spinal alignment, or other metrics, which provide objective intraoperative data to the surgeon in real time. This data helps ensure that each action taken during the surgery is as precise as possible, minimizing risks and improving the effectiveness of the intervention.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 19, 2025
    Publication date: August 20, 2026
Inventors: Patrick Murray, Caelan Allen, Nicholas Meadows, George Yacoub

  • Patent number: 12564468
Abstract: Various implementations include apparatuses for providing feedback on an implant. In a particular implementation, an apparatus includes: a transport device for loading the implant in a patient; an actuator coupled with the transport device for actuating movement of the implant in the patient; and a load indicator coupled with at least one of the actuator or the transport device, the load indicator providing feedback indicative of a load on at least one of the implant or a body part of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20250331868
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for evaluating spinal stiffness of a patient. One method may include providing a database model based on existing patient data with normalized spine stiffness data. Segmental stiffness may be measured intraoperatively, for example, using a force-sensing instrument, and compared to the database model. A surgical task, such as osteotomy or ligament release, may be performed based on guidance from the database model to adjust the spinal stiffness of the patient. Segmental stiffness may be measured after each surgical task, thereby updating the database model with each reading on segmental stiffness in real time. Each level may be addressed until targeted stiffness values, such as segmental stiffness and global stiffness, are reached based on the database model.
