  • Patent number: 9760656
Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically identifying and selecting preferred classification and regression trees are disclosed. Embodiments of the disclosed invention may be used to identify a specific decision tree or group of preferred trees that are predictively consistent across train and test samples evaluated against at least one node-specific constraint imposed by the decision-maker, while also having high predictive performance accuracy. Specifically, for a tree to be identified as preferred by embodiments of the disclosed invention, the train and test samples when evaluated node-by-node must agree on at least one key measure of predictive consistency. In addition to this node-by-node criterion, the decision-maker may adjust selection constraints to permit selection of a tree having a small number of node-by-node consistency disagreements, but with high overall tree predictive performance accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20170235818
Abstract: An object-backed block-based storage system may store data blocks in a block cache in a non-relational database and data block objects in an object data store. Access requests for a particular data block may be received at a storage protocol target that are formatted according to a network-based storage protocol. Translated access requests formatted according to respective programmatic interfaces may be generated and sent to the non-relational database or to the object data store in order to access the particular data block. A response indicating success or failure of the access request may be sent.

  • Publication number: 20170195452
Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media can determine at least one survey to be presented to users of the social networking system, wherein the survey is targeted to a number of users at each time interval. A uniform distribution of users that may be surveyed is determined, wherein users in the uniform distribution are each assigned a numerical value. A sampling window that references a numerical range that is adjusted upon completion of each time interval is determined, wherein users that have been assigned a numerical value within the numerical range are eligible for the survey.

  • Patent number: 9584533
Abstract: A method for network traffic characterization is provided. Flow data records are acquired associated with a security alert signature. Unidimensional traffic clusters are generated based on the acquired data. A Bloom filter is populated with the acquired flow data records. Clusters of interest are identified from the generated unidimensional traffic clusters. The identified clusters of interest are compressed into a compressed set. A determination is made whether a multidimensional processing of the acquired flow data needs to be performed based on a priority associated with the alert signature. A multidimensional lattice corresponding to the unidimensional traffic clusters is generated. The multidimensional lattice is traversed and for each multidimensional node under consideration a determination is made if the Bloom filter contains flow records matching the multidimensional node under consideration.

  • Patent number: 9524476
Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically identifying and selecting preferred size classification and regression trees are disclosed. The invention is used to identify a specific decision tree or group of preferred size trees that are consistent across train and test samples in node-specific details that are often important to decision makers. Specifically, for a tree to be identified as preferred by this system, the train and test samples must both agree on key measures for every terminal node of the tree. In addition to this node-by-node criterion, an additional tree selection method may be imposed. Accordingly, the train and test samples rank order the nodes on a relevant measure in the same way. Both consistency criteria may be applied in a fuzzy manner in which agreement must be close but need not be exact.

  • Publication number: 20160175162
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a tampon includes the steps of at least partially overlaying a web of base material with a web of absorbent material. The web of absorbent material is secured to the web of base material with a first securement. At least one of the web of base material and the web of absorbent material is folded after the first securement. The web of absorbent material is further secured to the web of base material with a second securement that is a stronger securement than the first securement.
