Publication number: 20240168311Abstract: Apparatuses, systems for electronic wearable devices such as smart glasses are described. The wearable device can comprise a frame, an elongate temple and an articulated joint. The frame can define one or more optical element holders configured to hold respective optical elements for viewing by a user in a viewing direction. The temple can be moveably connected to the frame for holding the frame in position when the device is worn by the user. The articulated joint can connect the temple and the frame to permit movement of the temple relative to the frame between a wearable position in which the temple is generally aligned with the viewing direction, and a collapsed position in which the temple extends generally transversely to the viewing direction. The articulated joint can include a base foot fixed to the frame and oriented transversely to the viewing direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2024Publication date: May 23, 2024Inventors: Nicholas Streets, Jun Lin, Stephen Steger

Publication number: 20230395341Abstract: A slide switch with an elastomer web for eliminating slide backlash and rattle. The elastomer web is disposed in the motion path of a mechanical slider and biases the slider to contact a switch nub. The biased slider eliminates a loose translational motion of the mechanical slider and therefore a user's perception of loose motion or backlash when actuating the switch. The elastomer web improves the user's perception of the mechanical slider's quality. Additionally, the elastomer web allows for larger assembly tolerances between the mechanical slider and the switch nub. An increased assembly tolerance improves yield for mechanical parts and reduces the cost of manufacturing.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2022Publication date: December 7, 2023Inventors: Stephen Andrew Steger, Jordan Wakser, Nicholas Streets

Publication number: 20230131070Abstract: An electronic eyewear device having a thermal management device including a vapor chamber in the temples. The temples may have a sheet metal portion thermally connected to heat generating electronics, wherein the vapor chamber is thermally coupled to the sheet metal along a length thereof to disperse heat generated by the electronics. The sheet metal and the vapor chamber may be encompassed by a non-thermally conducting material, such as being over molded by a silicone material, to prevent user contact with the heated sheet metal and vapor chamber. The sheet metal and the vapor chamber are generally planar and lightweight, and they are bent to bias the temples against a user's head when worn to provide preloading.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2021Publication date: April 27, 2023Inventors: John Bernard ARDISANA, Scott Myers, David Fliszar, Nicholas Streets, Andrea Ashwood

Patent number: 9389491Abstract: A camera system is configured to detachably couple to a camera mount, which in turn can be attached to an apparatus. The camera mount is a spring clamp including two arms, each include a handle component and a jaw component. The spring clamp can be attached to an apparatus when the two jaw components are closed around the apparatus. A strap is adjustably coupled to the spring clamp and is tightened around the apparatus to further secure the apparatus. In some cases, a flexible neck is fastened to the camera mount, and the camera system is detachably coupled to the flexible neck. This allows a mounted camera system to be situated at any desired angle for taking photographs.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2014Date of Patent: July 12, 2016Assignee: GoPro, Inc.Inventors: Christopher Aaron Clearman, Nicholas Streets
