Publication number: 20240095326Abstract: A modular biometric station system is used to form one or more modular biometric stations with cohesive form factors. Such biometric stations include a core unit, one or more end caps, and one or more modules. The modules may be configured to communicably and electrically couple to one or more of the end caps. The end caps may be configured to communicably and electrically couple to the core unit and/or one or more of the modules and may communicably and electrically couple one or more of the modules to the core unit. The core unit, end caps, and/or the modules may be able to communicably interact when coupled together. The core unit, end caps, and modules may all share a form factor. The core unit may include hardware and/or software that satisfies common requirements, and the modules may include peripherals and/or other components that can be coupled to the core unit to adapt the modular biometric station to a variety of different needs of different applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Matthew Wilkins, Austin Puckett, Raymond Protassiewicz, Aditi Vyas, Travis Baldwin, Gregory Sparks, Navni Garg, Nicholas Oxley

Publication number: 20230343011Abstract: Disclosed herein are method and system aspects for translating between a sign language and a target language and presenting such translations. For example, a method receives input language data and translates the input language data into sign language grammar. The method retrieves phonetic representations that correspond to the sign language grammar from a sign language database and generates coordinates from the phonetic representations using a generative network. The phonetic representations are digital representations of individual signs created through manual input of body configuration information corresponding to the individual signs. Further, the method renders an avatar that moves between the coordinates. In another example, a bidirectional communication system allows for realtime communication between a signing entity and a non-signing entity.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2023Publication date: October 26, 2023Applicant: Sign-Speak Inc.Inventors: Nikolas Anthony KELLY, Nicholas WILKINS, Yamillet PAYANO

Patent number: 11514094Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for a search tool is provided. A user-input search term is received in a search tool for finding instances of the search term in a document currently presented to the user. An instance of the search term in a hidden content element of the document is identified. A content element is determined for exposing the hidden content element. The determined content element is presented to the user and highlighted, to prompt user interaction therewith so as to expose the hidden content element.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2018Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Uwais Ashraf, Craig J. Patent number: 10748007Abstract: Identifying objects in an image. An image is received. One or more objects in the image are identified, based on a database of identified objects, and wherein one or more other objects in the image are unidentified based on the database of identified objects. One or more salient objects in the image is identified, based on execution of a saliency algorithm. A generic location for the image is determined, based on the one or more identified salient objects and a database that associates objects with generic locations. One or more of the unidentified objects are identified, based on the determined generic location for the image.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2018Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Wayfair LLCInventors: Nicolas E. Anastassacos, Chris R. Bean, Naresh Krishna Gopikrishnan, Alexander Horsfield, Joe Pavitt, Nicholas Wilkin

Patent number: 10585578Abstract: Adaptive scrolling can be used to navigate through a file displayed in a viewing area of a screen of a computer system. A method of adaptive scrolling can include receiving a user input of a start indicator in the form of a character or format feature of the file and detecting an end indicator corresponding to the start indicator. The user input can define a bound section between the start indicator and the end indicator. The method can also include detecting user input of scrolling in the bound section and, in response, activating adaptive scrolling to accelerate the scrolling through at least a portion of the bound section towards the end indictor.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2017Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Nicholas Wilkin

Patent number: 8555899Abstract: A hairdresser's masking sheet of flexible material masks selected strands of a head of hair from other strands of the hair while selected strands are treated. The sheet has a substrate (120) of flexible material and an adhesive portion (160). Application of the adhesive portion to a portion of the head of hair selectively and removably unites the sheet with strands of the portion of hair thereby brought into contact therewith. The sheet has a stiffening strip (180) operative to provide the sheet with longitudinal stiffness.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2007Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Assignee: Kirnan Holdings, Ltd.Inventors: Anthony Langford, Nicholas Wilkins
