  • Patent number: 10494928
Abstract: A cooled gas turbine engine component comprises a wall which has a plurality of effusion cooling apertures extending there-through from a first surface to a second surface. Each aperture has an inlet in the first surface and an outlet in the second surface. Each aperture has a metering portion and a diffusing portion arranged in flow series and each metering portion is elongate and the width is greater than the length of the metering portion. The metering portion of each aperture has a U-shaped bend. The diffusing portion of each aperture is arranged at an angle to the second surface. Each outlet has a rectangular shape in the second surface of the wall. Each inlet has an elongate shape in the first surface of the wall and the inlet in the wall is arranged substantially diagonally with respect to the outlet in the wall.

  • Patent number: 9702817
Abstract: Method and apparatus testing engine component, for blockage of one or more through-holes in a portion of a wall. The method including (i) providing a supply of test fluid, (ii) causing or permitting flow of test fluid to occur from first to second region, (iii) illuminating the second region with electromagnetic radiation to cause scattering of electromagnetic radiation by material exiting substantially non-blocked through-holes in wall portion having passed therethrough from the first to second side, (iv) detecting said scattering of electromagnetic radiation from said substantially non-blocked through-holes; and (v) comparing said detected scattering of electromagnetic radiation from said substantially non-blocked holes with known pattern of through-holes in component wall portion to determine the presence and/or location and/or identity of any blocked or partially blocked through-holes in component wall portion.

  • Publication number: 20070178919
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for improving short message service dependability by reducing the risk of an SM being loss due to failure in a network having both an SMS routers and an SMSC and in which forward and store delivery or Early-Ack is enabled in the router. Alternative apparatus and methods are presented which mitigate the possibility of losing an SM before it is delivered to a recipient or received and persistently stored by the SMSC by placing the SM in a survivable storage medium before acknowledgement of the SM is sent to the submitter of the SM and by providing a recovery mechanism that can re-attempt a delivery or a forwarding of the SM, based on the content of the survivable storage medium, in the case of a failure.
