  • Publication number: 20170212673
Abstract: An electronic device displays a user interface in a first display state. The device detects a first portion of a gesture on a touch-sensitive surface, including detecting intensity of a respective contact of the gesture. In response to detecting the first portion of the gesture, the device displays an intermediate display state between the first display state and a second display state. In response to detecting the end of the gesture: if intensity of the respective contact had reached a predefined intensity threshold prior to the end of the gesture, the device displays the second display state; otherwise, the device redisplays the first display state. After displaying an animated transition between a first display state and a second state, the device, optionally, detects an increase of the contact intensity. In response, the device displays a continuation of the animation in accordance with the increasing intensity of the respective contact.

  • Patent number: 9648062
Abstract: Systems and methods for multitasking using touch-sensitive devices are disclosed herein. In one aspect, a method includes: displaying, on a touch-sensitive display (“TSD”) of a device, first and second applications such that the first and second applications occupy substantially all of the TSD and are separated at a border between the first and second applications. The method further includes: detecting a swipe gesture at the second application , the swipe gesture moving in a direction that is substantially parallel to the border. In response to detecting the swipe gesture, the method includes: determining whether the swipe gesture satisfies a threshold.

  • Patent number: 9626087
Abstract: An electronic device with a display displays a first user interface; detects a first input that includes a first movement. In response to detecting the first input, the device slides the first user interface off in a first direction in accordance with the first movement, where a magnitude of the sliding of the first user interface is determined based on a magnitude of the first movement and a first movement proportionality factor; and concurrently slides the second user interface on in the first direction over the first user interface in accordance with the first movement while sliding the first user interface off the display. A magnitude of the sliding of the second user interface over the first user interface is determined based on a magnitude of the first movement and a second movement proportionality factor that is different from the first movement proportionality factor.

  • Patent number: 9612741
Abstract: An electronic device, with a touch-sensitive surface and a display, includes one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface. The device detects a contact on the touch-sensitive surface while a focus selector corresponding to the contact is at a respective location on the display associated with additional information not initially displayed on the display. While the focus selector is at the respective location, upon determining that the contact has an intensity above a respective intensity threshold before a predefined delay time has elapsed with the focus selector at the respective location, the device displays the additional information associated with the respective location without waiting until the predefined delay time has elapsed; and upon determining that the contact has an intensity below the respective intensity threshold, the device waits until the predefined delay time has elapsed to display the additional information associated with the respective location.

  • Publication number: 20170046034
Abstract: An electronic device with a display concurrently displays a device status region, and an application user interface that includes a content region and an application input field. While concurrently displaying the device status region and the application user interface, the device receives first input in the application input field. In response, the device concurrently displays respective content in the content region in accordance with the first input, and first text that corresponds to the first input in the application input field. While concurrently displaying the respective content and the first text, the device detects a second input that corresponds to a request to scroll the respective content in a first direction. In response, the device scrolls the respective content in the first direction, ceases to display the application input field, and displays, adjacent to the device status region, the first text.

  • Patent number: 9524272
Abstract: In any context where a user can view multiple different content items, switching among content items is provided using an array mode. In a full-frame mode, one content item is visible and active, but other content items may also be open. In response to user input the display can be switched to an array mode, in which all of the content items are visible in a scrollable array. Selecting a content item in array mode can result in the display returning to the full-frame mode, with the selected content item becoming visible and active. Smoothly animated transitions between the full-frame and array modes and a gesture-based interface for controlling the transitions can also be provided.

  • Publication number: 20160259542
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to varying threshold and feedback based on activity. The present disclosure includes receiving an input having an input intensity. Further, in response to receiving the input and in accordance with a determination that an electronic device is in a second activity state different from a first activity state, determining whether the input intensity of the input meets or exceeds a second characteristic intensity threshold different from a first characteristic intensity threshold. Additionally, in accordance with a determination that the input intensity of the input meets or exceeds the second characteristic intensity threshold, performing the application process and/or providing a haptic feedback of a second feedback level different from a first feedback level.

  • Publication number: 20160209939
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to manipulating a user interface on a wearable electronic device using a mechanical crown. In some examples, the user interface can be scrolled or scaled in response to a rotation of the crown. The direction of the scrolling or scaling and the amount of scrolling or scaling can depend on the direction and amount of rotation of the crown, respectively. In some examples, the amount of scrolling or scaling can be proportional to the change in rotation angle of the crown. In other examples, a speed of scrolling or a speed of scaling can depend on a speed of angular rotation of the crown. In these examples, a greater speed of rotation can cause a greater speed of scrolling or scaling to be performed on the displayed view.
