  • Publication number: 20200011152
Abstract: A sealant gun is inserted into a limited space work area to engage a buttonhead fitting supported by a fitting assembly perpendicular to a valve stem extending from a tapered plug valve. The fitting assembly orients the buttonhead fitting on the valve stem for movement of the sealant gun in a single vertical direction to engage the buttonhead fitting. The sealant gun injects a sealant under pressure through the buttonhead fitting and the valve stem into a tapered bore of the valve body. The tapered bore receives a tapered plug on the end of the valve stem for movement into and out of a closed valve position with the tapered bore. The sealant is injected between the tapered plug and the tapered bore to provide a seal therebetween that prevents the escape of the fluid flowing through the valve from the valve through the valve stem to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 10221057
Abstract: A gripping mechanism extends from a clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism includes a fixed handle, a pivotally connected movable handle, a releasable locking mechanism, and the upper section of two opposing L-shaped arms. The lower section of each arm extends from the clamping mechanism to connect to a pair of lugs to form the gripping mechanism. Each lug includes an elongated member and a gripping surface for gripping a valve box cover. The gripping mechanism is manipulated to pivot the arms and move the gripping surfaces into position to grip the valve box cover. Once the gripping surfaces grip the cover, the arms are locked in a fixed position relative to one another to facilitate the separation of the cover, the lifting of the cover, and the transportation of the cover from the valve box.

The lower section of each arm extends from the clamping mechanism to connect to a pair of lugs to form the gripping mechanism. Each lug includes an elongated member and a gripping surface for gripping a valve box cover lid. The gripping mechanism is manipulated to pivot the arms and move the gripping surfaces into place to grip the valve box cover lid. Once the gripping surfaces grip the lid, the arms are locked into a fixed position relative to one another to facilitate the separation of the cover, the lifting of the cover, and the transportation of the cover from the valve box.

  • Patent number: 9452513
Abstract: A shaft has a driving end and a driven end. A plurality of driving adaptors with various handles are releasably connected to the shaft driving end. A plurality of driven adaptors with various tools for performing operations within a limited space work area, such as an inaccessible space, a confined space, or keyhole excavation, are releasably connected to the shaft driven end. The driving adaptors are positioned outside of the limited space work area. The driven adaptors are positioned within the limited space work area. The handle is manipulated at the shaft driving end to transmit selected rotational and translational movements through the shaft to the tool to perform operations in the limited space work area.

  • Patent number: 8082823
Abstract: A stationary frame is positioned in surrounding relation with the surface of a polyethylene conduit to be prepared for scraping preliminary to performing electrofusion on the conduit by a keyhole operation in an excavated underground location. A scraper tool is mounted on the frame in a fixed longitudinal position to rotate around the surface of the conduit. A cutting blade of the scraping tool extends longitudinally a preselected length on the conduit into contact with the surface of the conduit. Rotation of the scraper tool carries the cutting blade completely around the surface of the conduit to remove a uniform layer of material from the surface of the conduit. Any out of roundness existing in the conduit is removed before the scraping operation is commenced. Uniform compression is applied by split clamps surrounding the conduit. Compression of the clamps restores the conduit to a concentric configuration preliminary to the electrofusion operation.

  • Patent number: 7347124
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention there is provided a drive tool assembly that includes a shaft having a drive end portion and a driven end portion with a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. The shaft driven end portion is flexible relative to the shaft drive end portion to permit displacement of the shaft driven end portion in an arcuate path relative to the shaft drive end portion. A torque transmitting mechanism is drivingly connected to the shaft driven end portion. Means is provided for supporting the torque transmitting mechanism on the shaft driven end portion for transmission of torque from the shaft drive end portion through the shaft driven end portion to the torque transmitting mechanism as the shaft driven end portion is displaced from the shaft drive end portion in an arcuate path along the longitudinal axis.
