  • Publication number: 20050183104
Abstract: A mounting system for a media playback device is provided having an outer module for rigidly mounting the media playback device to a surface, and a corresponding cartridge which is capable of being inserted and removed from the outer module. While inserted in the outer module, a first mounting subsystem functions to fixedly mount the cartridge within the outer module such that shock, vibration, and other physical environmental factors are not amplified in the cartridge. A second mounting subsystem is provided to protect the cartridge while removed from the outer module, and generally comprises a resilient material around a portion of the cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20020164973
Abstract: An automotive storage and playback device and method for using the same are described. The automotive storage and playback device is capable of being detachably coupled to an automobile. The device includes a wireless transceiver to receive compressed digital content automatically from a computer system via a wireless local area network based on user defined preferences input into the computer system. The wireless transceiver is communicably coupled to the wireless local area network when the wireless transceiver is a predetermined distance from a wireless local area network access point. The device also includes a decoder and converter to decompress and convert the digital content. The decompressed and converted digital content is sent to be played on an output device in the automobile.

  • Publication number: 20020078248
Abstract: An adapter module for a personal digital assistant (PDA) and a method for using the same are provided. The adapter module includes a processing sub-system enclosed by a housing, and a first and second connector coupled to the processor. The first connector electrically connects to a corresponding connector on the PDA. This allows for communication between the adapter module and PDA. The second connector electrically connects to a corresponding connector on a PDA dock. This allows for communication between the adapter module and the PDA dock. The adapter module may be mechanically and electrically coupled to the PDA while the PDA is docked in the PDA dock.
