    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for fault detection, diagnosis, and recovery in an electromechanical actuator. The system can include a data processing system having one or more processors and a memory. The data processing system can receive first electrical data from a first sensor positioned at a first terminal of a power source, in addition to second electrical data from a second sensor positioned at a second terminal of the power source. The data processing system can determine a first average value from the first electrical data and a second average from the second electrical data. The data processing system can determine a difference between the first average value and the second average value. The data processing system can detect a fault impedance according to a pattern of the difference over a measured time interval. The data processing system can provide an indication of the fault impedance.

One illumination device includes protection circuitry configured to protect the illumination device from the ballast current signal, a full-wave rectifier, a smoothing filter electrically coupled to the full wave rectifier, and a current regulator power circuit electrically coupled to the smoothing filter and the LEDS. The current regulator power circuit can include a first switching element configured to operate in response to a first (PWM) ON/OFF control signal; a current controller electrically coupled to a gate of the first switching element, the current controller configured to generate the first PWM control signal; and a current sense resistor electrically coupled to the first switching element and configured to sense the current through the LEDS, wherein the sensed current is fed back to the current controller.
