  • Patent number: 9636609
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus to continuously monitor and control acoustic energy and vacuum pressure to maintain a net unidirectional flow of multi-phase heterogeneous fluids through a porous filter or membrane. The heterogeneous fluid may come form a variety of sources including biological sources such as, blood, bone marrow aspirate (BMA), adipose tissue (lipoaspirate), urine, saliva, etc.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 3, 2015
Date of Patent: May 2, 2017
    Assignee: Smith & Nephew PLC
Inventors: Stephen John Curran, Jonathan Nicholas Ridgway, Pei-Sheng Chen, Michael Pratt, Marc Tanner, Stephen Latham, Nick Reback

  • Patent number: 8997998
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus to continuously monitor and control acoustic energy and vacuum pressure to maintain a net unidirectional flow of multi-phase heterogeneous fluids through a porous filter or membrane. The heterogenous fluid may come form a variety of sources including biological sources such as, blood, bone marrow aspirate (BMA), adipose tissue (lipoaspirate), urine, saliva, etc.

  • Publication number: 20110238022
Abstract: A system and method for collecting fluid from a patient is disclosed. The system includes two plates separated by restoring force providing members and straps allowing the system to be placed in expanded and compressed modes. The system is a single use system that prevents the re-use of the system once it has been drained of collected fluid. Methods for fabricating the system are also disclosed, including a method that bonds two plates together to create an assembled version of the system.
