  • Patent number: 5803853
Abstract: A bicycle drive chain is provided for training on a rear speed changing gear assembly having up to nine concentric sprocket wheels. Each of the sprocket wheels has a thickness of about 1.8 mm. An outermost one of the sprocket wheels has an outer face that is displaced from an inner face of an innermost one of the sprocket wheels by a distance not greater than 37 mm. The bicycle drive chain includes inner and outer chain plates, pins for connecting the inner and outer chain plates, and rollers provided respectively on the pins for spacing apart the inner chain plates. The bicycle drive chain has a pitch defined by distance between axes of two adjacent ones of the pins and equal to about 12.7 mm. The pitch is 1.924.+-.0.060 times a total thickness of the bicycle drive chain.

  • Patent number: 5617888
Abstract: A garden umbrella of the solid wood pole type is designed to accommodate the pulley cord within a specially drilled cord passage located adjacent to a narrow neck slot extending longitudinally between the pulley, located at the top of the pole, and the hand crank near the bottom of the pole. A special drill bit is designed with both (a) narrow neck cutting edges for drilling the narrow neck slot and (b) relatively large main head cutting edges for drilling the cord passage in one simple manufacturing operation. The cord passage is sized to accommodate the pulley cord for up and down movement therein while the narrow neck slot is smaller than the cord thickness, thereby preventing the pulley cord from passing out of the pole through such narrow neck slot.

  • Patent number: 5346006
Abstract: An outer chain plate for a bicycle drive chain includes an elongated plate body with upper and lower edges, two end portions formed with a respective hole, and a waist portion interconnecting the end portions. The plate body has an outer face which is formed with a generally S-shaped longitudinal recess that includes a straight connecting portion formed in the waist portion, and insert portions which are disposed on two ends of the straight connecting portion and which surround a respective one of the holes. The longitudinal recess has two open ends which extend respectively from the insert portions and which open in opposite directions toward a respective one of the upper and lower edges of the plate body. The plate body further has an inner face which is formed with a generally S-shaped longitudinal projection.

  • Patent number: 5291730
Abstract: A knuckle connector is used to connect spacedly end knuckles of a chain strand to form a chain loop. The knuckle connector includes a pair of link units, each of which has a link pin and an oval-shaped link plate formed with a circular through-hole on one end and a retaining hole on an opposite end. The link pin has a head secured in the through hole and a tail end formed with a peripheral channel. The link pin of one of the link units extends through a pin hole formed in a corresponding one of the end knuckles such that the peripheral channel initially extends into a large insert part of the retaining hole in the link plate of a remaining one of the link units. The peripheral channel of the link pin of one of the link units engages the link plate of the remaining one of the link units in a diameter-reduced retaining part of the retaining hole when the end knuckles are pulled apart.
