    Abstract: A bidirectional latch pin assembly can comprise a housing portion comprising a latch port. A latch pin in the latch port can comprise a stepped nose extending from a body portion. The stepped nose can comprise a first step and a second step. A spring can be biased against a guide mounted in the latch port and the spring can be configured to bias the latch pin to a first position extending the first step out of the latch port. A first actuation assembly can be configured to move the latch pin to a second position extending the first step and the second step out of the latch port. A second actuation assembly can be configured to move the latch pin to a third position pulling the first step and the second step into the latch port. A switchable rocker arm and a valvetrain assembly can be formed therewith.

The cylinder deactivation actuator further comprises a latch step disposed below the mechanical lash-setting sleeve and extending into the first actuator bore. The hydraulically actuated latch assembly is configured to selectively travel between the travel stop and the latch step when the hydraulically actuated latch assembly is in the latched configuration.

The rocker arm has a first end and a second end. The second end cooperates with a valve. The HLA capsule cooperates with the first end of the rocker arm. The LMS capsule has a lost motion spring. The LMS capsule is located in a position on the valve train arrangement that is offset from the HLA capsule. The lever is configured between the HLA capsule and the LMS capsule. During cylinder deactivation, load is transferred from the HLA capsule to the lever arm and ultimately to the lost motion spring in the LMS capsule.

Disclosed herein are a rocker arm assembly, compliance capsules for a switchable capsule of the rocker arm, actuators, and support structures for the actuators. The alternative compliance capsules can be electromechanically actuated by the alternative actuators, which are hung over the rocker shaft by the support structure. A cam actuator can be in addition to an overhead cam rail and in addition to the rocker shaft. The cam actuator can be configured with a compliance capsule so that the switching of the switchable capsule is mechanically linked and less reliant on precise electrical signal timing.
