Publication number: 20220310497Abstract: A package having reduced injected noise into balls carrying sensitive signals is described. An array of solder balls is mounted on a substrate wherein the solder balls provide package output. Solder balls adjacent to a noise-sensitive solder ball package output are shifted by one-half the pitch of the array of solder balls to equalize mutual parasitic inductance around the noise-sensitive solder ball package output.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2021Publication date: September 29, 2022Inventors: Nicola Bramante, Rupert Howes

Patent number: 10042451Abstract: A touch sensor input device includes a first and second array of electrodes, the electrodes in the first array being orthogonal to the electrodes in the second array. A capacitor sensing arrangement senses an electrode capacitance signal which varies in the presence of a touch input. The capacitance signals for groups of electrodes in each array are combined in order to derive respective individual sense signals. This arrangement has electrodes with a finer resolution than the sensing resolution, and this gives improved ability to sense accurately the position of the touch input.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2015Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: INNOLUX CORPORATIONInventors: Martin John Edwards, John Richard Ayres, Nicola Bramante

Current measurement circuit and measuring method thereof including a binary weighted capacitor array
Patent number: 8405407Abstract: A current measurement circuit for measuring a current is provided. The current measurement circuit includes a current integrating unit with a capacitor array, a comparator coupled to the current integrating unit, and a control unit coupled to the comparator and the current integrating unit. The current integrating unit integrates the current on the capacitor array to obtain an input voltage. The comparator compares the input voltage with a specific voltage to generate a compare output. The control unit generates a control signal to apply to the capacitor array of the current integrating unit according to the compare output. A magnitude of the current is obtained according to the control signal and the capacitance of the capacitor array.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2010Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Chimei Innolux CorporationInventors: Martin John Edwards, Nicola Bramante -
Publication number: 20110227815Abstract: Methods for PWM precharging of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been disclosed. Image quality has been improved by including the light generated during pre-charge phase is included in the overall budget. The approach invented is especially beneficial to displays using Multi-Line Algorithms (MLA). Constant discharge time for anodes, discharging the anodes to just below the luminance level saves power by reducing the pre-charge requirements for the next driving phase. High impedance terminal (HiZ) discharge is performed after a fixed discharge of anodes.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2010Publication date: September 22, 2011Inventors: Stephen Allen, Nicola Bramante, Kevin Jones, Alan Somerville, Julian Tyrrell

Patent number: 7965132Abstract: A transistor circuit is provided. The transistor circuit includes a first output transistor, a second output transistor, and a switch arrangement. The first and second output transistors are arranged for providing an output signal to a common output of the transistor circuit. The switch arrangement couples an output of the first output transistor and the output of the second output transistor to the common output in sequence. The first and second output transistors are controlled to provide the same steady state output. The switch arrangement is adapted such that when the output of the first output transistor is coupled to the common output, changes in drive conditions voltage of the first output transistor are isolated from the second output transistor.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2008Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: Chimei Innolux CorporationInventors: Martin John Edwards, Nicola Bramante

Patent number: 7791380Abstract: A current sampling circuit including a current sampling transistor, a capacitor arrangement between the gate and source of the current sampling transistor and an amplifier provided in a feedback loop between the gate and source of the current sampling transistor. A switch controls the circuit to sample a gate-source voltage corresponding to a current being sampled onto the capacitor arrangement. The capacitor arrangement comprises a first capacitor circuit for sampling a gate source voltage in a first sampling phase and a second capacitor circuit, with the first and second capacitor circuits arranged for together sampling the gate source voltage in a second sampling phase. The operating point of the amplifier is shifted between the first and second phases based on the gate source voltage sampled in the first sampling phase.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2008Date of Patent: September 7, 2010Assignee: TPO Displays Corp.Inventors: Nicola Bramante, Martin John Edwards, John Richard Ayres

Publication number: 20100045650Abstract: An active matrix display device comprises an array of display pixels, each pixel comprising a current-driven light emitting display element (2), a drive transistor (22) for driving a current through the display element (2) and a storage capacitor (30) for storing a voltage to be used for addressing the drive transistor (22). A discharge transistor (36) is used for discharging the storage capacitor (30) thereby to switch off the drive transistor in dependence on the light output of the display element (2). Reading circuitry (70) is used for monitoring the charge on a discharge capacitor (40), the pixel data is corrected in response to the reading circuitry measurements. This can extend the lifetime of the display.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2007Publication date: February 25, 2010Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: David Andrew Fish, Steven Charles Deane, Nicola Bramante
