  • Patent number: 6617418
Abstract: A hyperbranched dendritic polyether, which optionally is further processed, such as further chain extended, chain terminated and/or functionalised. The hyperbranched dendritic polyether is obtained in a process comprising the step of thermally initiated cationic ring-opening polymerisation of at least one oxetane having at least two reactive groups of which at least one is an oxetane group. The thermally initiated ring-opening polymerisation is performed using an effective amount of at least one initiator, such as a thermal onium salt, a Lewis acid and/or a Brønsted acid. The terminal groups in said hyperbranched dendritic polyether are substantially hydroxyl groups and used for said optional further processing.

  • Patent number: 6515152
Abstract: A process for production of an oxetane, which process comprises subjecting an alcohol having two or more hydroxyl groups to reaction with a carbamide at a molar ratio employing 1-2 moles of said carbamide on 1-2 moles of said alcohol. The alcohols preferably have at least one 1,3-diol grouping. The reaction is carried out in the presence of at least one catalyst promoting and/or initiating transcarbonylation and/or pyrolysis. A reaction mixture comprising an oxetane and optionally an orthocarbonate of said alcohol is yielded. The oxetane is suitable recovered from said reaction mixture by for instance distillation.

  • Patent number: 6211329
Abstract: A process for synthesis of a polymeric polyalcohol substantially and preferably built up form polyester units and composed of a monomeric or polymeric initiator molecule to which at least one dentritic branch (dendron) consisting of a number of branching generations is added. The branching generations comprise a polymericor monomeric branching chain extender having three reactive functions of which two are hydroxyl groups. The two hydroxyl groups of the ranching chain extender is acetal protected by reaction between said two hydroxyl groups and an acetal-forming carbonyl compound, preferably an aldehyde. The acetal protected branching chain extender is then employed for addition to the initiator molecule of a first branching generation followed by an optional deprotection of the hydroxyl groups by decomposition of acetals and for addition in repeated steps of further branching generations.

  • Patent number: 5866557
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of an ester of inositoltrisphosphate for the preparation of a medicament for preventing, alleviating or combatting inflammatory conditions in mammals including man.Injury or destruction of tissues should be understood as damage to an aggregation of specialized cells with a particular function both internally and externally in the body, such as different organs or parts of these, vessels, skin etc.Tissue damage involves a complex series of events such as dilatation of vessel walls e.g. arterioles, capillaries and venules, increased permeability of fluids including e.g. plasma proteins and increased blood flow. Increased vascular leakage often results in extravasation and oedema formation which characterize the damage of different tissues.Often tissue damage and inflammatory conditions are characterized by signs of pain, heat, redness, swelling and loss of function.
