  • Patent number: 4759931
Abstract: Liquid iodophors are provided containing as surface-active agent a product of the formula RO--(C.sub.3 H.sub.6 O).sub.m --(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.n --CH.sub.2 COOM, wherein RO is the residue of an alcohol of at least 8 carbon atoms or of an alkylphenol of at least 10 carbon atoms which is substantially free of olefinic unsaturation, m is a number having an average value of 0-10, n is a number having an average value of 2-20 and M is hydrogen or a monovalent cation. Preferably the iodophors contain at least 20% of iodine. The novel iodophors are prepared by dissolving at room temperature the desired amount of iodine in the surface-active agent.

  • Patent number: 4645627
Abstract: Virtually odor-free, non-gelling, water-dilutable and acceptably colored salts of acid ether sulfates, being liquid under normal temperature and pressure conditions, are obtained by neutralizing acid sulfates of the general formula R(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.n OSO.sub.2 OH wherein n has an average value between 1 to 6 and R is an oleyl or alkyl group of 8 to 16 carbon atoms which acid sulfate has been neutralized with triisopropanolamine. Such salts are suitable for half care products and for anhydrous insecticide preparations.

  • Patent number: 4443353
Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous bleaching agent with cleaning action, containing an alkali metal hypochlorite, an alkaline agent, and one or more compounds of the general formula R-(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.x OCH.sub.2 COOM, where R represents an alkyl group with 8-18 carbon atoms, x a number with an average value of 0.5-8 and a narrow distribution of the average value and M an alkali metal atom.

Inventor: Nicolaas A. I. Van Paassen
  • Patent number: 4421930
Abstract: A process for preparing a pumpable surface active product based on polyether acetic acid is described, wherein 1-10% water and an acid is added to a crude reaction mixture obtained by reacting in an alkaline medium an adduct of the formula RO--(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.x H with a compound Hal--CH.sub.2 COOM, wherein R is a hydrophobic, aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic residue, x is a number having an average value of 0.5-10, Hal is a halogen atom and M represents an alkali metal, the amount of acid added being such that a 10-percent aqueous solution of the product shows a pH of 4-7. Preferably about 7% of water is added and also it is preferred to add so much acid that a pH of about 5-6 is obtained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 1981
Date of Patent: December 20, 1983

Inventors: Nicolaas A. I. van Paassen, Hermanus C. H. van Riel
  • Patent number: 4188311
Abstract: Detergent compositions containing ether sulfates are provided, wherein ether sulfates are used of the formula RO--(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.n SO.sub.3 M, wherein R is an alkyl group containing about 12 to about 15 carbon atoms or a mixture of such groups, n is a number having an average of 1-5 and M is a cation, said ether sulfate having been prepared by ethoxylating a compound ROH with epoxyethane in a manner known per se with the use of acid catalysis, followed by sulfation. Particular advantages are obtained, if the starting product ROH is an alcohol mixture containing a high percentage of branched chain compounds.
