Patent number: 5609075Abstract: A process for manufacturing razor blades from a continuous strip of metal stock by stamping a plurality of openings in the strip for precise registry of the blade edge when employed in the razor and then running the stock through a device which partially slits the strip along lines which are precisely located with respect to the edges of the stock and the openings. The strip is then heat treated after which it is run through a device which splits the stock along the previously slit lines to form a plurality of continuous strands containing interconnected blades disposed end to end.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventor: Nicolae Neamtu

Patent number: 5303539Abstract: A flat clip or staple is manufactured from a continuous strip of flat sheet material in coil form by first stamping out intermediate portions of material between each of the blanks to be formed into a discrete staple while retaining the blanks in the continuous strip. The strip is then subjected to a second stamping process where each discrete staple is severed from the strip, formed into the required shape and the excess waste material removed from the continuous strip. The second stamping process is located immediately adjacent the final stapling assembly operation, such that the staples never need to be transported to the final stapling operation site in separated form.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1993Date of Patent: April 19, 1994Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventor: Nicolae Neamtu

Patent number: 5010646Abstract: A razor blade member has a first planar portion and a second planar portion connected to the first planar portion by a transition bend region. The longitudinal edge of the first planar portion remote from the transition region is sharpened to a cutting edge. The blade member also includes stress balancing deformation along the longitudinal length of the planar portions and adjacent the transition region. The bow of the second planar portion is less than 0.05 millimeter per centimeter length of blade member.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1990Date of Patent: April 30, 1991Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventor: Nicolae Neamtu
