  • Patent number: 12442698
Abstract: A strain sensor is based on a self-biasing reference circuit that reaches an operating state that, at least at first order, is at least supply-voltage independent. The strain sensor provides an output signal that is defined by the operating state of the self-biasing reference circuit. At least one component in the self-biasing reference circuit has an electrical characteristic that depends on a strain to which the at least one component is subjected. This makes that the operating state of the self-biasing reference circuit depends on the strain. As a result, the output signal of the strain sensor varies as a function of the strain to which the at least one component is subjected.

  • Publication number: 20210169682
Abstract: A therapy system in which one or more eye patches are used to apply thermal energy to meibomian glands of an eye of a user to improve the release of meibum. The system comprises includes a headband which is worn by a user and in which a control unit is provided. At least one eye patch is provided which is connectable to the control unit. Each eye patch includes an outer area, an inner area with a flexible heating element located in the inner area. Electrical connections are used to connect the flexible heating element to the control unit to provide at least heat therapy to at least the meibomian gland in the eyelids. A charging unit is provided for recharging a rechargeable battery in the control unit.

  • Publication number: 20090230306
Abstract: A process for spectroscopic measurement of the emission of formaldehyde from refined wood products destined to be used in the manufacture of composite wood products such as medium density fiberboard (MDF), particleboard, and plywood. The process employs near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to measure the absorption of light by the wood furnish; the level of absorption is then related to the formaldehyde emission and thickness swell of the finished wood panel. This process allows for real-time quantitative prediction of future formaldehyde emissions and thickness swell of a composite wood panel.
