Publication number: 20250065982Abstract: A snowmobile includes a frame, a driver seat supported by the frame, a left footrest and a right footrest, a rear suspension assembly connected to the frame, an endless track supported by the rear suspension assembly, a motor supported by the frame and operatively connected to the endless track, a drive shaft, a driven shaft operatively connected to the endless track, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) operatively connecting the drive shaft to the endless track. The CVT comprises a drive pulley being operatively connected to the motor via the drive shaft, a driven pulley being operatively connected to the endless track by the driven shaft, a belt operatively connecting the drive pulley to the driven pulley, and a CVT housing enclosing the drive pulley, the driven pulley and the belt. The CVT housing defines an air inlet and air outlets including a first and a second air outlet.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2024Publication date: February 27, 2025Inventors: Sebastien VEZINA, Rene LEMIEUX, David LAROCHE, Emilien DEMERS, Jean-Sebastien PARD, Anne-Marie DION, Felix LABONTE, Nicolas BEDARD, Xavier-Pierre AITCIN

Patent number: 10435059Abstract: Snowmobile having a suspension assembly comprising an upper A-arm, a lower A-arm, and a ski leg. The ski leg is pivotably connected to the upper A-arm via an upper A-arm connector and to the lower A-arm via a lower A-arm connector and is pivotable about a kingpin axis. A ski is connected to the ski leg via a ski connector. The upper A-arm connector, the lower A-arm connector and the ski connector are positioned one with respect to the others such that the kingpin axis is behind the ski connector at a level of the ski connector when the ski is viewed from the side.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2016Date of Patent: October 8, 2019Assignee: BOMBARDIER RECREATIONAL PRODUCTS INC.Inventors: Bertrand Mallette, Pascal Gagnon, Nicolas Bedard

Patent number: 9956982Abstract: A ski includes a longitudinal ski body having an upper surface and a lower snow-contacting surface. A longitudinal slot extends from the upper surface to the lower surface. A longitudinal keel, having at least a portion selectively extending in the slot, is adapted to connect pivotably to a ski leg of the snowmobile. The ski body is connected to the keel and adapted thereby to connect to the ski leg. At least a portion of the ski body is selectively movable with respect to the keel. The ski body is thereby selectively disposed in any one of a plurality of ski body positions, each of the plurality of ski body positions being defined at least by a position of the slot with respect to the keel. A fastener retains the ski body in any one of the ski body positions. Ski assemblies and snowmobiles having the ski are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2014Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: BOMBARDIER RECREATIONAL PRODUCTS INC.Inventors: Pascal Gagnon, Nicolas Bedard, Stuart Santry, Jose Boisjoli

Patent number: 9359022Abstract: A snowmobile rear suspension assembly has a pair of slide rails and at least one suspension arm pivotally connected thereto and adapted to be pivotally connected to a tunnel. A shock absorber is adapted to be pivotally connected between the tunnel and the slide rails. A limiter strap, adapted to extend between the tunnel and the slide rails, is substantially inextensible to limit separation therebetween. A strap holder, connected between an end of the limiter strap and the slide rails or the tunnel when the at least one suspension arm is connected to the tunnel, is moveable between a first and a second strap holder position. A position of the end of the limiter strap, relative to the slide rails or the tunnel, is different in the first strap holder position compared to the second strap holder position. A method of adjusting the limiter strap is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2015Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: BOMBARDIER RECREATIONAL PRODUCTS INC.Inventors: Yvon Bedard, Nicolas Bedard
