  • Publication number: 20200359793
Abstract: An upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing, which includes a casing body extending along a longitudinal axis, includes a base including a radial face, extending substantially radially from the casing body, a plate including an upper face, extending substantially along the longitudinal axis, a connection portion between the base and the plate, including a concave face connecting the radial and upper faces, the concave and radial faces extending on either side of an edge. The upstream rail is repaired through a method including covering a surface with a solder, the surface including the upper and concave faces such that the solder extends until the edge, and machining the covered surface, in a single action, in a direction toward the radial face, so as to reshape the surface, wherein the machining of the covered surface is performed on a portion of the radial face.

  • Patent number: 10836901
Abstract: According to the present disclosure, a hydrophobic polymeric composite comprising a hydrophobic polymer matrix with hydrophobically modified particles dispersed therein is provided. The hydrophobically modified particles may be derived from hydrophilic particles modified with organic moieties. The hydrophobically modified particles may also take in the form of core-shell fibers with hydrophilic particles encapsulated inside the core of said fibers or in the form of monolithic fibers embedded with hydrophilic particles. The method for making hydrophobic polymeric composite comprising each of the various hydrophobically modified particles is also provided. The hydrophobic polymer matrix can be chosen from poly(alpha-hydroxyesters), of carbonates, polyurethanes or polyalkanoates. For example, hydrophilic particles, such as barium sulphate, zirconium oxide, tantalum oxide or bismuth oxide, are dispersed in the hydrophobic biodegradable polymers, such as poly-(L-lactide) (PLLA).

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to delivery and release systems, such as core-shell particles. An exemplary composition according to the disclosure can include a degradable polymeric shell surrounding a core that includes a crosslinker, which can encompass a metal, such as chromium. The core-shell particles can be provided with a gel-forming polymer, such as a polyacrylamide, into a subterranean reservoir having conditions such that the shell of the core-shell polymer degrades, and the so-released metal is effective to at least partially crosslink the gel-forming polymer to form a gel. The so-formed gel can be effective to control water flow through the subterranean reservoir, such as in relation to a waterflood of the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 10293924
Abstract: The runway state determined on the ground by an aircraft and provided to the aircraft on approach does not make it possible to account for possible degradation of the runway occurring since the previous determination of that runway state. Updating of this runway state on the basis of a simple comparison between a desired deceleration and an observed deceleration resulting from a degraded runway is not satisfactory either. The disclosure herein thus provides for obtaining a local stopping distance according to a local runway state characterizing a runway zone on which the aircraft is in movement at the time of the landing, this local stopping distance being estimated based on local measurements made in the aircraft; obtaining a reference stopping distance according to a reference runway state; then comparing these two distances with each other to determine whether the local runway state is more degraded than the reference runway state.

  • Publication number: 20180058258
Abstract: A vane (54) for a turbomachine, comprises an aerodynamic profile (61) formed from a body (70) made from a first material, and an add-on part (74) fixed to the body (70) by brazing and made from a second material. The add-on part (74) is housed in a recess (72) formed in a median part of an end part (73) of the body (70), between extreme parts (73A, 73B) of the end part, such that the add-on part (74) forms a median portion of the leading edge (62) of the aerodynamic profile (61). The second material has a coefficient of linear thermal expansion along the direction of the leading edge greater than that of the first material, at a normal operating temperature of the vane (54), which reduces risks of cracks appearing in the aerodynamic profile (61).
