  • Publication number: 20230310978
Abstract: The instant disclosure relates to a board game that explains and teaches vaccine development. The board game seeks to provide a teaching tool that can be played by one or more players. Player tokens are positioned at a starting position on a game board that includes a scoring track and a turn counting track. Each player token is assigned pay coins and a turn token is positioned on a turn counting track. Initial conditions are recorded on disease boards. At each turn, the players each initiate an action phase; a vaccine production phase; and a vaccine sales phase. The action phase is initiated by executing three randomly selected actions from a group. Vaccine sales are initiated by identifying a best-in-class vaccine for each disease board. For each best-in-class vaccine, the associated player token is advanced along the scoring track based on the number of distributed vaccine units representing the immunization points.

  • Patent number: 10477264
Abstract: A method for the selective extraction, by a terminal, of at least one image to be extracted, from an encrypted video stream where multiple encrypted versions are stored on a server incapable of decrypting the encrypted version. The multiple encrypted versions comprising at least a low resolution version and a high resolution version, and each encrypted version is divided into encrypted blocks, containing multiple encrypted images. The method includes selecting an encrypted block from the low resolution encrypted version of the encrypted video stream, selecting a subset of the encrypted block containing an image to be extracted; transmitting to the terminal the subset; decrypting of the subset by the terminal; and extracting the image, from the decrypted subset.

  • Patent number: 9593376
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of assessing a favorable or, on the contrary, an unfavorable prognosis of a cancer in the subject, which method comprises detecting the presence of a mutated Natural Cytotoxicity-triggering Receptor 3 (NCR3) nucleic acid, an abnormal relative amount of at least one particular Natural Killer p30 (NKp30) RNA transcript isoform, and/or an abnormal Natural Killer p30 (NKp30) expression or activity of at least one particular NKp30 protein isoform in a sample from the subject, the presence of mutated NCR3 nucleic acid, abnormal relative amount of at least one particular NKp30 RNA transcript isoform, or abnormal expression or activity of at least one particular NKp30 protein isoform being indicative of the prognosis of cancer in the subject.

  • Patent number: 9332050
Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving a media stream provided in a plurality of different, alternative encoded representations. Each representation comprises a series of discrete fragments and each fragment comprises a contiguous temporal segment of the stream. The method comprises: obtaining (240, 310) at least a part of a first fragment from a first one of the representations; obtaining (210, 320) at least a part of a second fragment from a second one of the representations, wherein the first and second fragments comprise temporal segments that overlap at least partially; decoding (250, 330) a first temporal segment of the media stream from the first fragment; and decoding (260, 350) a second, later temporal segment of the media stream from the second fragment. In this way, the method switches from receiving the stream in the first representation to receiving it in the second representation.

  • Patent number: 8828944
Abstract: The present invention relates to the fields of genetics, immunology and medicine. The present invention more specifically relates to in vitro or ex vivo methods for determining the susceptibility to a cancer treatment of a subject having a tumor. These methods comprise a step of determining the ability of the treatment, of the subject and/or of the tumor to induce an anticancer immune response, the inability of at least one of the treatment, the subject and the tumor to induce an anticancer immune response being indicative of a resistance of the subject to the therapeutic treatment of cancer. Inventors in particular identify genes specific of a human subject or of cancerous cells which can be used to predict or assess the sensitivity of a subject to a treatment of cancer. The invention also relates to particular compounds capable of activating or enhancing the immune system of a particular subject, when the subject is exposed to a therapeutic treatment of cancer or before such an exposition.

  • Patent number: 8612552
Abstract: A method of streaming data from a server (S) at a server data rate (Cs) via a network to at least one terminal at a terminal reception data rate (Crec) is provided. A streaming section from the server (S) is requested by the terminal (T). Streaming data is forwarded from the server (S) to the network (N) at a server data rate (Cs) and from the network (N) to the terminal (T) at a reception data rate (Crec). Data received from the network (N) is buffered in the terminal buffer (AL) for at least a first period. The rendering of the buffered data is initiated after the first period at a first rendering rate (Cren), which is lower than the server data rate (Cs) or the reception data rate (Crec). The first rendering data rate (Cren) is adapted according to the filling of the terminal buffer (AL) with received streaming data until the rendering data rate (Cren) corresponds to the server data rate (Cs).

  • Patent number: 8327406
Abstract: The invention applies to the transmission of a multimedia content from a server to a client terminal. The multimedia content is available from the server as one or more sets of files. Upon reception of an initial request from the client, the server sends a document back to the client, said document causing the client to repetitively send fetching request. Upon reception of a fetching request, the server selects the file to download.

  • Publication number: 20060089838
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of streaming multimedia for providing seamless stream switching. The method consists in streaming multimedia data from a server (15) to a client (14) over a network (13) having a variable bandwidth. The client is intended to decode a subset of streams within a set of streams having various predetermined bit rates. The decoded subset of streams has bit rates compatible with the network bandwidth. The method comprises the steps of configuring the client so that the client can decode all the streams within the set of streams, playing all the streams within the set of streams and muting all the streams within the set of streams, except the subset of streams.
