Abstract: A helmet assembly having a helmet, a mandible guard, and an accessory attachment system that is used to selectively attach and secure the mandible guard to the helmet is disclosed. In some embodiments, the mandible guard is arranged to be detached from a first side of the helmet while remaining secured to a second side of the helmet. In such embodiments, the mandible guard may be moved outwardly and away from a wearer as the mandible guard pivots around the accessory attachment system attached to the second side of the helmet.

Abstract: An optical article includes a substrate with front and rear main faces, one main face coated with a columnar micro- or nano-structured coating. The substrate and optical article are transparent in at least a part of the visible region ranging from 380 to 780 nm, along at least one incidence angle. The columnar micro- or nano-structured coating includes an array of columns including each a core and an upper layer covering the core, the core and the upper layer being structurally and/or chemically different and have light absorbing properties with an extinction coefficient “k” ?10-2 in the spectrum 250-2500 nm and are able to cause a change in transmission or in reflection of incident light through the optical article as a function of the angle of incidence of light. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing an optical article including a columnar micro- or nano-structured coating.

Abstract: Attachment systems for releasably securing an accessory to an article, such as a helmet, are disclosed. In one embodiment, an attachment system (100) includes an attachment plate (102) that includes engaging features (108, 110) which engage corresponding engagement features on an attachment base (104). At least one of the engaging features (110) on the attachment plate is associated with a flexible member (112), and is movable between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration via deformation of the flexible member. A pair of grips (114) are provided on opposing ends of the flexible member, and the grips are pressed toward one another to move the movable engaging feature between the locked and unlocked configurations.

The eyewear assembly may include upper and lower frame portions that are separable from one another at a bridge region of the frame using a linkage. The separated upper frame portion and lower frame portion may be held in a stable open position. After lens removal or replacement, the linkage may be actuated to reconnect the upper frame portion and lower frame portion, thereby enclosing the lenses.

Abstract: A helmet cover system includes a helmet cover having connected fasteners to removably fasten the cover to a helmet. The cover may include an elongated bar positioned along a front edge of the cover, wherein the elongated bar is attachable to a front mount connected to the helmet. The elongated bar may be held to the cover by one or more loops of the cover. The cover may leave an accessory mounting portion of the front mount exposed for use.
